Sorry, Teddy. The USSC doesn’t want to hear from you.
Did Mr. Krebs’ recent action get noted in the thread?
Supreme court has weighed in. Very quick response and judgement to deny even hearing the ridiculous Republican requests.
One line. Denied.
No dissent.
Did they actually deny cert or just deny the emergency injunction. News stories are remarkably bad at making these things clear.
“The application for injunctive relief presented to Justice Alito and by him referred to the court is denied.”
That’s it. That’s the entirety of the ruling. Make of it what you will.
My read of it is this: “This was a stupid request. Don’t do this again.”
There’s a Texas lawsuit now isn’t there? I presume that one is similarly doomed.
I’ve heard reported that other States are joining the Texas suit but I can only find it claimed on whackjob sources
I can’t imagine how the numb-nuts with this Texas lawsuit think that they have standing to challenge election results in another state.
It’s idiotic on it’s face.
I really, really hope that the AGs of PA, GA, MI, and WI band together to sue to invalidate the TX election with SCOTUS due to all the voter suppression and disenfranchisement taking place. That would be delicious irony.
Apparently the court has asked the states named in the TX suit to respond by Thursday.
I think it’s instructive that the Texas solicitor general, who normally would argue the state’s position before the Supreme Court (and did so on the ACA case last month) would not let his name appear in the filing.
Hm. I’m not a lawyer so it’s hard for me to know. My understanding is the filing asked for injunctive relief. That was clearly denied. Did it ask for anything else? Is there any other issue for them to consider?
I think it’s pretty obvious that the TX et al suit is insanity and will never be heard, but that’s what the MAGA-sphere is hanging it’s hat on now.
I see the AZ Supreme Court laid down the smack as well tonight, so there is another case off the table.
3 losing Repub candidates in MA elections who lost by 25, 31 and 49(!) points are suing now, using the same stupid trumpish arguments of voter fraud. Is this a precedent now? Every single goddam time a Repub loses fair and square now, they yell and scream and sue? There needs to be some kind of reform or reset to wipe out the taint of trumpism from American politics. I don’t know how that would be accomplished, or if it’s even possible though.
But wait…there’s more!
U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday vowed to intervene in a case brought by the state of Texas before the U.S. Supreme Court to throw out the voting results in four other states.
Trump, writing on Twitter, said: “We will be INTERVENING in the Texas (plus many other states) case. This is the big one. Our Country needs a victory!”

(FYI: What I quoted it pretty much all of it)
What sort of intervention could possibly be warranted or helpful here? Is he saying the federal government is going to join the suit against those states (terrifying, but likely pointless)? Or him personally as a candidate (insane, and pointless)?
Or, as usual, is this just bluster to get a few more donations?
The kind where a family member has gone profoundly off the rails.
Yes, conservative boards and Fox commenters are completely relying on Supreme Court intervention now. All these state courts and lower federal courts are DEEP STATE.
That’s some Deep State, our Deep State.
He’s going to bring his little table-desk to the SCOTUS courtroom and park it at the end of the high bench.
That’s some Deep State, our Deep State.
Don’t miss it, don’t even be late!
It’s dollars to doughnuts that our Deep State
Is the best Deep State in our State!

No petition for a writ of certiorari is before the Supreme Court. The emergency application for a writ of injunction was filed “pending” such a filing.
