That plus who cares what Bolton thinks? The time for him to do something was when he was still in the administration. Coward just like the rest of the ones who just resigned instead of insisting on DOING SOMETHING when they had the chance.
All during this whole election saga, never once did I wonder what Bolton thinks about it.
The company that owns the Dominion voting machines is also suing her ass, and has indicated that she must save any communications between her and Republicans, as well as any communication that indicates that anyone paid her for her testimony.
And the letter indicated that although she purported to be an important person in the company, she was in fact hired by a temp agency to clean the screens for a day.
I love the letter the Dominion lawyers sent to Mellissa Carone (the person you are talking about):
“We write to you now because you have positioned yourself as a prominent leader of the ongoing misinformation campaign by pretending to have some sort of ‘insider’s knowledge’ regarding Dominion’s business activities, when in reality you were hired through a staffing agency for one day to clean glass on machines and complete other menial tasks.” SOURCE
You couldn’t make it up. Powell is so clueless that the person she recruited to lie for her is not just a criminal, it’s like she’s an exaggerated caricature of a villain. It wasn’t like this “witness” just cheated a bit on her taxes or something. She stole money meant for homeless shelters and veterans’ graves.
As a practical matter, though, at least in Canada, such motions always fail unless they’re symbolic stuff that doesn’t really have anything to do with governance. An opposition bill can’t even propose the expenditure of money (unless they get a minister to approve it, which effectively means it isn’t really a private member’s bill anymore.)
True, but the opposition can force the goverment MPs to place their votes. The Liberal backbencher from North Bumfuck Harbour, NF can’t say to his constituents, “I share your outrage over the corruption seen over the WE Charity scandal and I think Parliament should force an investigation into it” while knowing full well that his party leaders will protect him from ever having to vote on that matter. No, the Tories can and will force a vote on the matter, and the Liberal backbencher will have to vote the party line. Or actually stand up and rebel against party leadership, which will have consequences.
Meanwhile, we see that various GOP senators can say all kinds of things knowing full well that they’ll never have to place a vote to back it up, because Mitch won’t ever let that come up for a vote.
