Retards, every one of you. “Wull, gawrsh, peoples is gittin’ shot here an’ there an’ EVER’where! Ah reckon’s we orter make sure EVER’ONE has a gun! Don’t want no one t’ feel left out! H’YUCK!”
From a sample size of, um, one? Yeah, I’d say it was coincidence.
Let’s see . . . Paducah shooter injures, what, six people? Principle shoots nobody, and manages to stop further shooting by perpetrator. Good point.
You misspelled “a fucking moron.” There is no “y” in it, and you left out eight letters.
I don’t suppose you have any actual facts to contribute like everyone else has been, do you? You’re content to simply, as you always do, substitute emotionally-charged, factless claptrap for reasoned debate and pretend you accomplished something, right? I mean, that’s what you do–why stop now?
Thanks for quoting me, great to see you have a key grasp of the concept of irony. Also very good to see that the fiercely antigunners can provide just as shitheaded a response as the fiercely progunners.
I thank you for your comments, and pray your next installment will not be long in coming.
You mean, besides the fact that neither weapon had been invented yet?
You can’t be serious. You can’t be serious! First of all, it’s a lot harder for YOU to shoot someone holed up in a bell tower than it is for HIM to shoot you. HE has the advantage, you moron, that’s why he went up there! And what about all those extra bullets now flying through the air? You think maybe one of them might hit some innocent bystander, the very same people you’re trying to save?! You IDIOT!!! You are quite possibly the dumbest motherfucker on this board.
Yeah, due process and fair trials are SUCH a burden.
I suppose guys like you would cry like a baby that’s had his favorite toy taken away. (And, yeah, I DO think some of you are like babies.) And maybe we’ll finally cut the homicide rate down even more than it already is. Of course, Gore isn’t planning to do this, but you aren’t willing to believe that, are you?
Your grasp of reality is as shaky as your grasp of spelling, punctuation and grammar.
Sorry, Origato. I realize now what you were up to. You were pretending to be the kind of slack-jawed yokel gun-owner that piss me off. I’d like to think that the reason you pissed me off is because you did such a good job at pretending. I’d rather not think about the alternative. :o
It would help.
The conservatives and libertarians would scream, “Not with my tax money, you won’t!” But I think it might actually work.
The US figures are FBI ones. You can download a mini-graph and spreadsheet package with US homicide statistics for the last ten years or so broken down by year, age, sex, race weapon etc. although I’ve lost the URL for it at the moment. I’ll chase it up if anyone’s interested in downloading it for themselves.
I rang up the Home Office here in the UK for the England and Wales figures and got them straight from the people responsible for publishing the homicide statistics.
“I’m a Yankee doodle dandy!
A Yankee doodle do or die!
A real, live nephew of my Uncle Sam!
Born on the fourth of July!”
Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel.
“We” kicked their butts two hundred years ago? Were you there? What do you mean by “we”? Who are you, Methuselah?
I bet if our forefathers are rolling in their graves, it’s because we can’t think for ourselves. If we brought Adams (father AND son), Jefferson and Franklin back from the dead and asked them to explain what they meant by this paragraph here and that phrase there and this comma over here, they’d probably say, “Figure it out for yourselves, you twits!”
I am not willing to accept this societal cost at all. I want the total number of gun deaths to be zero, each and every year till I’m dead. Nothing else will satisfy me.
I have had fired guns, reluctantly. Each time, I ranted and raved that I wanted no part of it, but my father wouldn’t listen to me and made me fire it anyway. The noise scared me and the smoke choked me. It bothered me that he was so comfortable with that damn weapon. Didn’t he know that thing could kill somebody?
He DID know. And he was comfortable with that. I saw a side of my father I never wanted to see again. It terrified me. My father could justify killing someone. He wasn’t as gentle as I thought. And I lost some respect for him.
You gun-owners remind me of him. And you scare the shit out of me like my father did. You’re comfortable with killing. What kind of monsters are you? How do I know you won’t turn against ME?
And don’t tell me you aren’t comfortable with killing. If you were not, you would not do it, even at the cost of your own life, even that of your loved ones. Not one life should be less important to you than your own. And you damn sure wouldn’t worship authorized killers as heroes. (Soldiers, cops, etc.)
(I apologize to Gary for thinking he was pro-gun ownership.)
(And I still haven’t made my way to the end of this thread, which is now longer than when I started.)
Wow, maybe after that you can take on car deaths, drowning deaths, electrocution deaths, stabbing deaths, falling-down-the-stairs-and-breaking-your-neck deaths, etc. Maybe a good way to do it would be to ban cars, water, electricity, knives and stairs.
Good thing I’m not a gun owner.
Oh, get over yourself, you hysterical half-wit. If you don’t have something reasonable or intelligent to bring to the table, save your energy. Nobody is interested in watching you respond to every single post in the thread with your completely-devoid-of-facts, overwrought, emotional baloney. At least I’m not, and I daresay most of the others aren’t either.
I don’t own a gun, I’ve fired them once or twice, but you better bet your fucking ass that if my life or my wife’s is ever in mortal danger, I’m willing to kill to defend it. Yes, sir.
Hey, dude! Don’t you even bother to check your facts, or are you too full of crazed self-righteous indignation?
Oh wait, I forgot. You were the person who started drive-by posting without “reading the rest of the thread”.
University of Texas Clock Tower shooting - August 1, 1966
M16 - first issued February 8, 1964
AK-47 - first developed 1947 at the Izhmash plant, present day stamped metal version issued in 1959.
Please at least check on these things before you make more bizarre statements.
What about knife deaths?
Automobile deaths?
Airplane deaths?
Why the FUCK do you sit there complacently when you could be opening threads about the evils of automobiles and airplanes? Why are you so willing to do nothing while thousands of people die in airplane crashes! I mean, what are some societal costs you ARE willing to pay (if any)?
Sure, I’m comfortable with killing to protect my own life, and the lives of my loved ones and friends. I’m comfortable with killing to protect our country and society from foreign agressors. Hell, I’m even comfortable with killing to protect myself from just serious harm, or being raped. And your point is…what now? Oh yes, I’m an evil person.
I see…so if someone was threatening your own life, or the life of your loved ones, you would stand back and let it happen. Since you could not justify killing someone.
What about your apparant willingness to live in a society where freedom from crime is a goal of these hired killers called “police”? And why you feel no gratitude towards those other “hired killers” called the “military” that protect you from being enslaved or killed by soldiers from another country? So if you are ever a crime victim, I fully expect you would NEVER call the police, since after all you would just be justifying the existance of the “hired killers” of society.
Rather than try to give a well-reasoned response to Mr. Dumbfuck… I mean, Jab1… I’ll simply have some fun.
How’s this, my testicle-brained friend… let’s require all citizens of the good ol’ USofA to turn in all their weapons and melt them down into a gigantic paperweight. Then let’s drop the paperweight on you.
Apparently, you lack the cognitive ability to see past your own colon, your head is shoved so far up your ass. I would certainly enjoy seeing you make a post that included the results of some IQ usage, since that would mean Hell has frozen over and I’d win the lottery.
While I’m sure that you’re proud of your Maude Flanders impression, it really gets obnoxious to see a dozen or so posts by your idiotic self in a row. Perhaps you can develop a single iota of self-control and wait 'til you finish a fucking thread before you hit the Reply button and bang your echoing noggin agains the keyboard?
I suppose, compared to a Pantywaist Incarnate like yourself, an average, rational person would seem like fringe-group Montana-residing milita group members. And I suppose further that, in your enfeebled mind, the calculation comes out close to “they like guns, therefore they must be crazy and dangerous”, which would excuse your idiocy. However, recommend you either A: learn a thing or two before you force Webster to redefine the word “stupid” or B: shut the fuck up.
Thank you, and remember: Charleton Heston is looking out for your sorry ass.
Clueless Gun Lover: If you want to ban guns because they kill people, how come you don’t want to ban ______?
Pretty much what I expected from people who can’t see a difference between deaths caused accidentally and those caused deliberately. It’s as if I had said I was tired of seeing people die of old age. Also what I expected from people who believe no one else has a right to live but themselves and whomever they happen to love or agree with. (I’ll bet you’re all in favor of the death penalty, too. Savages. Strike that; even savages have more nobility.)
Listen close: The vast majority of deaths by gunfire were the direct result of a DELIBERATE, INTENTIONAL act. That is, the person pulling the trigger wanted the victim to die. The vast majority of deaths caused by cars were ACCIDENTAL. That is, the driver had no intention of killing the victim.
When I said “no more deaths” I meant “no more deaths BY GUNS” (and you KNOW that’s what I meant). I know I’m dealing with morons when I have to explain EACH AND EVERY DETAIL to them. You should be able to figure these things out for yourself. If you can’t, it ain’t my fault.
I advocate the total destruction of every single gun in this world and of everything else ever designed for the SOLE purpose of killing people (bombs, biological weapons, etc.). WE DON’T NEED THEM!!! We DO need cars; we DO need knives; we DO need other things that can be dangerous, but NOT guns.
And this IS the Pit, and I thought was allowed to be emotional here. In Great Debates, I would’ve responded more rationally, with more logic and less emotion. But, frankly, I needed to vent.
Besides, what’s wrong with emotions anyway? One of the things that separates us from animals is our ability to feel compassion, sympathy and even love even for those who have wronged us. If you have no feelings for people who have wronged you, how are you different from them? How are you superior to them?
And I could’ve presented facts to back my case (Like the recent killing of an innocent hostage in Orlando, Florida by a Police sharpshooter, which is what I had in mind when I said the “good” guys can cause as much death and destruction as the criminals), but they’re all the same facts you’ve been exposed to before and you didn’t change your mind then, so why bother?
