The Apprentice 3/4/07

On the increasingly slim chance that there is still someone besides me stubborn enough to keep watching, I will half-heartedly start a thread.

Something about promoting a luxury car, I do believe.

::Listens intently::

::sound FX of cricket chirping, lonely wind howling::

So they lost. I saw that coming.

Yes, I’m watching.

Trump, the second firing was justified, but your first firing was just capricious. Sheesh.

I didn’t care for Derek and his cockiness, but man. That was a lame firing!

And Angela should have been sent packing. She adds nothing and lacks finesse (though I’m glad to see a departure from the skinny, model-esque figure). She should be glad that she didn’t have to go toe-to-toe with Jen in the boardroom, because there’s no way she would have been able to come out of it intact.

I didn’t know if I should feel sorry for Randall for getting cut down by Trump or feel sorry for Trump for being interupted so much. I’m thinking that’s the last time we see Randall though.

I think he’s done similar firings in the past. It seems to me like he has simply developed a ‘no way in hell’ attitude towards occasional candidates, and any excuse they offer him, no matter how flimsy, gets seized upon.

I think Surya is in the same position – Trump is just waiting for an excuse.

I’ll say this, though… Jenn may have screwed up, but when she had to leave, she did so with style.

Jenn, that was the classiest exit in the entire history of The Apprentice. Good for you!

I agree- Jenn went out with style, a big difference from the last one with the “stare of death” or whatever they called it.

Randall- shut up shut up shut up.

Surya- speak up, doofus. Your days are numbered.

Didn’t watch because I wasn’t home, and dammit this show is no longer worth taping.

What was Jenn’s exit line?

On the pre-show recap they showed Aimee getting into the car. She does a half turn and pout, which I have rewatched on Tivo several times now. I can’t get enough of it. HA!

Talk about taking it lying down… Jen gets the boot, probably deservedly so, but I got tired of her “our team is so great” cheerleading. Still, it was nice to see somebody, er step up and take responsibility.

Seriously, can we have someone kick the Apprenti in the groin when they use that phrase? Some jackass used it and other equally lame business terms in a sentence. I swore I heard business professors’ heads explode across the nation.

Derek’s firing was just bizarre. Trump is now the defender of hate speech, it seems. But it’s okay for him to call Rosie O. “fat” and “ugly.” Way to be consistent T.

Surya needs a good old fashioned ass kicking. And a haircut. He is the dorkiest contestant on the show ever, because he isn’t so over the top that we don’t know someone like him IRL. The scene with him writing on the board with everyone in the background doing work… priceless! He was lame as well during the reward. I thought he said he liked Snoop? Homeboy is getting the edit from hell.

I don’t think it was that she said anything great so much, as her overall behavior: she hugged all her ex-teammates, wished them well and seemed to mean it, and in the taxi she only said things along the lines of it being a great experience and she’d enjoyed it. She came across as mature and likeable and well in control of her emotions/behavior. Good girl! Have a cookie.

Not a pout. She yelled some invectives at her erstwhile teammates, but they were omitted from the final audio.

I don’t know. Though the firing of Derrick may have seemed capricious, I thought it was deserved.

“White trash” remains offensive to some and using it to describe oneself seems bizarre particularly in this context. Picture an African-American saying, “What do I know? I’m just a dumb n-word.”

Coupled with the fact that I doubt seriously that the dude fits the traditional definition of the term and that as Trump said he didn’t want anyone working for his corporation who would describe himself as such, methinks D. had it coming.

I liked the Derek firing. Trump being unpredictable, capricious and crazy has always been part of the fun for me.

Interesting how one team was able to triumph using out of the box thinking like serving shrimp and eclairs, and actually letting people try out the product!

BTW, I don’t think that Trump understands the creative process. When you’re fishing around for a concept, you don’t automatically censor ideas just because they’re dumb. It’s called “brainstorming,” Donald!

What killed Kinetic is that they got too attached to their ‘theme’ too soon. As in, if you spend even a half hour brainstorming on how to promote your theme AND DON’T COME UP WITH A SINGLE GOOD IDEA you need to dump your theme and start over. I believe they said that team wasted three hours fashing about on “sixth sense of elegance” or whatever it was.

The worst part is it took me about 30 seconds to come up with a campaign. Stimulate the 5 senses: sight - flowers and art, taste - gourmet food and wine, touch - a masseuse, hearing - classical music, smell - perfumes and oils. After letting the crowd mill around for a while and building anticipation by discussing the features of the car, unveil the SIXTH SENSE (I see Lexuses).

Then I see that Arrow stole a bunch of my ideas. Bastards!!

I totally agree with this. It’s ridiculous that someone was seemingly penalized for coming up with an idea. It’s up to the group to veto it. Plus what constitutes as a “dumb idea” is highly subjective.
