Well, actually, she seemed to have said plenty negative about Alex. She pointed out that his only job was to make sure everything ran smoothly, and he had done an absolutely shitacular job of that. She was gunning for his metrosexual ass with both barrels, but Trumpy wasn’t having any.
I just figured I’d copy monstro’s post, because I agree with almost everything she said. I’ll only disagree on one point – I think Angie’s presentation would have had to be tons better to avoid going home. For whatever reason, Trump has hated Angie for quite a while.
I simply don’t understand the Alex love train that Trumpy is on. I will note that Alex is the closest we have this season to Bill and Kelly. Coincidence?
Thanks, that’s what I was wondering. “Nobody wants meatball on their pizza”; except I guess when you said you did the week before. Most of the edits I can live with, but that one was just god-awful.
Was Alex ever brought back in before last week? If not, I guess that could account for Trump’s love. Nobody ever had a problem with him, he goes over with the losers and he’s back 2 weeks running.
The pizza edit was completely obvious. We rewound it. At no point during his silly speech could you see Trump’s face.
Meh. I think Chris should have been fired tonight. Misplacing the credit card is something a sixteen year old does, not a grown man.
Hey, now.
The problem, for me, was not that he lost the credit card - but that he spent 3 whole hours in Best Buy waiting to get it back (not including travelling time & trying not to take a chew time).
That’s 3 hours (on a very short timetable) that they desperately needed of man power that could have been used sorting things into piles, making lists, making sure that the models were taken care of and clothed … a lot of chaos back there, and some of it may have been averted had there been three people working rather than just two.
Still, not Chris’s fault. Alex shouldn’t have had him just sitting there that long.
(And though she didn’t have a chance at winning, I do think Angie’s presentation would have been better had she had more time to work on it, which she would have - if there’d been any organization at all)
I’d blame the utter lack of order on Alex. Just really bad management this time.
Totally agree. I wasn’t dead-set against an Angie firing, but I’m really surprised that Trump essentially gave Alex a get-out-of-the-Boardroom-free card. I mean, Trump lambasted Stephanie and Audrey for not adequately managing their team, and Todd (remember him? week one?) got fired for being a hands-off, do-nothing manager. WHat makes Alex any different?
Angie surely performed poorly enough to deserve firing, but damn, I think Alex should shoulder more of the blame for the loss than Angie, particularly with Trump’s history of calling out the PMs. Angie screwed up the presentation, but Alex a) didn’t manage his people well, b) wasn’t personally in charge of anything in particular, c) neglected the basic marketing idea of determining what the customer wants (which Kendra and Tana did do; kudos to them), d) came up with a crap-line of clothing, and e) screwed their presentation time , which is really unprofessional. Maybe he shouldn’ta been fired, maybe he shoulda, but at least Trump ought to have made him squirm some more.
I’m glad that Caroline, at least, ripped Alex a new one.
One other comment: Chris is a doofus, and he’s obviously going down in flames at some point, but give him props for at least saying that he needed to work on his temper and attitude, and for realizing that if everyone else thinks he’s coming on too strong, and he doesn’t, then he’s probably the one that’s wrong. Yeah, I know; recognizing one’s own faults is a basic social skill, but it’s one that’s sadly lacking in most Apprenti, so give it up for Chris.
And what’s up next week? Was it my imagination, or did the shot of the reward actually give away which team would win next week? What post-Boardroom circumstance could be that compelling? Guess: Chris walks back into the Boardroom with a seven iron, pulls down his pants, and starts hammering the table top while yelling, “WHO’S THE HOMOSEXUAL NOW, MR. TRUMP? WHO’S THE HOMOSEXUAL NOW?”
Even after 2 glasses of chardonnay, I thought that was the most awkward and out-of-left-field edit they’ve ever had.
Did anyone else think that maybe the Best Buy employees and the backward-screenprinting guys were engaging in a little Apprentice sabotage?
I also think Alex deserved more blame, but ultimately I think Angie deserved to be fired. She asked to do the presentation and got so easily flustered and lost her way. But it isn’t just that, Angie and Chris have been on the losing team for forever now and I just think Trump felt that one of them had to go. Alex ain’t great but he probably doesn’t deserve the boot before one of those guys.
What exactly is up with Craig? He seems to have it in for Kendra.
Tana’s likability is on a par with her asskickability. I seriously hope she doesn’t go the way of Troy, another likable front runner.
Found the Donald particularly obnoxious last night. DID YOU CHOKE, ANGIE? DID YOU CHOKE? And calling them losers. Fuck off, orange head.
Also, what about his comment about notGeorge last night. “Don’t let her looks fool you…” SHUT UP!
Oh, that really bugged me. Would he say that about some great-looking guy? If it were a female Mr. Trump, would she say it about some guy?
It’s icky and almost a way of saying, “I know you’re a tough businesswoman, but you’re still a pwetty widdle thing. Yes you are.”
She sure was purty, though.
Yeah, I couldn’t help but notice.
Wow, you guys are insightful. Though Angie did choke, Alex has been sailing through with doing nothing in any of his tasks - Angie was out there busting her lips (“the feminine balls”) and couldn’t handle the pressure overall.
That said, while I can understand losing it for a while, she should have recuperated and come back to the boardroom swinging at Alex AND Chris. She was diffident even in the boardroom. That ultimately led to her downfall. She didn’t challenge what Trump/Alex were saying.
Not a huge Alex fan, but credit where it’s due he did a pretty good job on the Sony task. I guess a good lesson would be if you get the chance to ask people what they want, do it. Seems to work out up to this point.
The most significant thing I learned from this week’s episode is that Mullinator’s Raj Ratings are more exciting than the show. I nearly fell asleep watching the TV last night.
So what else did I learn?
From the task: Do your market research (as BigDummy noted, being no dummy). Hold on to the credit card. Keep control of time and props.
From the firing: Stay cool under pressure. As DT noted a few weeks back, it’s not just how good your idea is, it’s also how well you present it.
I predict next week is Chris’s turn to cash out. Will he go quietly, or with a big bang?
I thought NotGeorge looked rather petite and she was smiling sweetly, so I think the “don’t let her looks fool you” remark was appropriate. I can see where he might have said the same thing about a diminutive and pale gentleman fellow with a kind face.
Were there any clues in the preview as to who changes teams? And if so, can that person control the ticking timebomb that is Chris?
Excellent point.
Looks like Bren, and sadly, Bren has not shown himself to be a good handler of obnoxious people (remember Stephanie the bitter cheeseburger-bringer in the trailer task?), nor a creative genius who can carry a task (a la penis ensuing).
I wonder how many sexual harrassment suits Trump International has quietly settled?
