That sounds like a no true scottsman type of argument; not exactly, but along those lines. I find with people of all different backgrounds that it is hard to have an exchange of ideas without resorting to making assumptions about people who disagree with them.
I think Democrats and left leaning people would benefit from moving away from these methods of discourse. Others on the other hand feel that there needs to be more aggression. In my dealings with various people a common thing I see is that if something is discussed in a way they consider belittling to someone else they tend to turn against the person doing the belittling; but that also depends upon their perception of who is the aggressor.
I think a less accusatory tone would increase the odds of electoral success for the Democrats. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out; frightening for some to be sure, but for me it will be interesting because I have rarely seen anything much change in my life depending on who is in office - I’m not on welfare or anything like that.
The Democrats need to be as rude, ruthless, and as willing to break procedural norms in the pursuit of power as the Republicans are. That’s why I want Michael Avenatti to run in 2020; the man just exudes the ruthless efficiency and capability to troll Republicans that the Democrats desperately need right now.
Things like Court-packing, statehood for DC and Puerto Rico, and the willingness to ignore Supreme Court decisions will only come from a Democratic president who has adopted the same partisan ruthlessness that the GOP has borne since Gingrich. So go Avenatti.
“Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?” Are you kidding me? “Other than at the hearing”?? He’s being vetted for the Supreme Court and he’s acting like a toddler who’s being told he can’t have dessert because he didn’t clean his room. Hillary sat cool as a cucumber for eleven hours during that Benghazi hearing. Kavanaugh couldn’t hold his fudge for twenty minutes.
And if my grandmother had wheels she’d be a Aston-Martin. Is there a point somewhere in our future, sport?
I don’t give a damn what you think. Like I said, it’s pointless to argue with right wingers. The goal now is to remove you guys from power to save the country. We’re not going to convert you; but we are going to expose you.
I guess it’s safe to assume that you think the Democrats need not take a conciliatory approach. Just because someone disagrees with you on a message board doesn’t mean they are of any particular political party. For example, I am not a right winger.
You may not regard yourself as a right winger. But I have a hard time imaging how anyone other than a right winger would think that it’s the Democrats who should adopt “a less accusatory tone”. The only people who think the Republicans are the aggrieved party in American politics are Republicans.
That was the report the ABA issued back at the beginning of September. The ABA has stated it is investigating the allegations that arose during the hearings and will be reassessing its report.
Yes, the report they issued after they “reached out to 471 judges, lawyers, and professors for information regarding Judge Kavanaugh’s integrity, professional competence and judicial temperament.” If he has had anger management issues in the last couple of decades, one would hope someone would have said something.
