You’ll be pleased to know that many of us down here idolise the wombat as our personal hero - all Aussie blokes know that a wombats eats roots shoots and leaves. 
The Straight Dope is carried in about thirty free, “alternative” type papers in the US… the kinds you find in University towns. I don’t know if the Chicago Reader would consider syndicating the column overseas. But if you have such a paper in your town downunder and they are interested in running the column (you might have em read some of the racier examples of past columns to see if this is REALLY what they want), have the editor write to Cecil@chicagoreader.com. We’ll be sure it gets to the person at the CR who handles syndication.

I don’t know if this is still done, but somebody at the Chicago Reader once told me that when newspapers inquired about carrying the Straight Dope column, they were provided with a past column, “Why is Shit Brown?” as an example of what they could possibly expect. Might as well be ready for it.

It’s still early days (site’s only been up less than a week), and I’m getting new Dopers sending me their profiles at a fairly steady rate of one or two a day. When that starts to die off, I’ll have a better idea of whom I should be sending kick-arse emails to. Got fifteen Dopers at the moment. I estimate there are another thirty or so around the place. I’d also like to see more Dopers sending in photos (ya lazy buggers).
Update coming soon. Reprise suggested a cultural corner. That was a good idea. Then woolly suggested a Kultural Korner - that was a better idea! Gonna initiate these Americans into the joys of Roy & HG, Bert Newton :eek: , Tooheys Old, and dirty weekends at Ettalong in the HZ Ute.
