This forum is so pitiful. It exists purely so people can come in here and piss all over it. If you have a genuine complaint to make about someone on this board, or a genuine complaint about some other relevant stuff, then fine. It appears as though this forum is being used for people to show how big their ego’s are and how great they are at articulating the ‘best sounding’ criticism.

General Questions. Genuine requests for knowledge and information, from the obscure to the idiotic.
In My Humble Opinion. People say what they think about different topics.
Mundane Pointless Shit. Self-explanatory.
When people are discussing a these topics, tempers naturally flare up very quickly. Rather than allow people to get really pissy and insulting in these fora, the Administrators decided to keep those discussions purely for intelligent discourse.
“But we need to bitch!” they said.
First you tell us that this forum is pathetic. And then you say that complaints are fine. Where else can you make these complaints?
Wait! How about making a place where people CAN make their complaints heard?
So the BBQ Pit was formed. It’s a place where we can all vent our spleens about each other, ridicule differing opinions, and rant about things that piss us off. These are things we all need to get off our chests from time to time, without being distracted from the topics we love to discuss in other places.
Sure, we could get rid of the Pit. We would all turn into a group of rabid posters, making almost every thread into a place to come up with new and exciting insults. But then the SDMB would look like an aol chatroom, and nobody wants that.
Shoot, the best part of the Pit is hijacking rants. If we didn’t have any rants, we’d never have anything to hijack. Duh.

If ever my theories about The BBQ Pit were going to be realised, now would be the time, especially after reading the ego-inspired attempted-articulated “drool” you have carelessly splashed across my screen.
Either that, or the intent of my OP was overlooked.
The point of it was to say that to come here and rant about your ‘next door neighbour’ or ‘Amazon’ is just pointless. What does it achieve? What GOOD are you doing by telling US how much you hate them? Take those sorts of complaints to whom they belong. The perpetrators. Not us. What do we care? What will we do?
Wouldn’t it look stupid if I came on here and started whining about how much I hate the roof tiles on the guy’s house who lives around the corner from me?

And yet, MPSIMS contains quite a bit of discourse along that level, and there are plenty of people who take great enjoyment in such conversations. Likewise, people enjoy ranting and commiserating about the shit they have to wade through in regular life.
So unless you’re also planning to argue that MPSIMS is a useless forum, I think you’re underevaluating this forum.
