The Beatles Cinematic Universe is coming in ‘27

I’m getting in early; can’t wait for this to be a resurrected zombie in 3 years.

There has been announced a quarter of movies, all coming in 2027, about the Beatles.

Each movie will come from the perspective of a member. I think it’s safe to presume that the movies will be intertwined.

No word on who might star, but Paul and Ringo (and the families of John and George) have granted their blessings (along with the use of the music)

Thoughts? Fears? Consternations?

That was the band before Wings, correct?

You’re thinking of the Quarrymen.

With any luck the movies should be coming out around the same time as the second volume of Mark Lewisohn’s All These Years.

Philip Norman recently released his bio of George Harrison, his third bio of individual Beatles. (Poor Ringo.) Maybe they can hire him to write the movies, since he’s already delved into their individual perspectives.

More looking forward to a decade or so into the future, when they’ve churned through the Four bio-pics, reworkings of Help! and Hard Day’s Night and are scratching around for other product to exploit.

Expect to see the the Ballad of Desmond and Molly Jones or a comedy-horror movie themed around Maxwell Silver Hammer.

And there’s always George Martin.

Breaking new ground with this exciting, untold story about young moptops invading America. Important and innovative artists to be sure. And no doubt they have some differences in background and temperament and experiences. But surely, far more similarities? I presume a lot of the focus is Beyond Beatles?

Oh man, I’ve been waiting and waiting for this.

mmm

I just hope they don’t keep trying to milk the BCU for decades like Marvel has and we end up at the point where they’re releasing billion-dollar blockbusters about Billy Preston that don’t make any sense unless I watched the eight-part Badfinger series on Disney+ and read the liner notes in the Smothers Brothers: Age of Spektor soundtrack.

The Pattie Boyd/Harrison/Clapton arc across a few of the films and miniseries, though, was remarked upon for being consistently in-canon in spite of Pattie being recast 7 times. And a that’s not mentioning the cult following behind a never-released cancelled one-shot centered around Mal Evans.

Man, that was the greatest thing I never saw!

I will not rest until the Plastic Ono Band gets its due. They should make a movie about them, consisting of 110 minutes of wailing.

But yet, you still can’t buy a legitimate copy of Let It Be, and Help! is always too dammed expensive.

The problem is that the entire All-Starr Band Saga doesn’t make any sense without the plot threads that that movie was supposed to set up.

Apparently Robert Zemeckis had a plan to remake Yellow Submarine, and it was going to be utterly bad. The concept art for Jeremy Hillary Boob Phd is an actual boob - a literal breast with arms and legs and a mask-like parody of the original face.

What about the Fifth Beatle - Pete Best.

What About the Sixth Beatle - Stu Sutcliffe.

What About the Seventh Beatle - George Martin.

What about the Eighth Beatle - Andy White.

What about the Ninth Beatle - Jeremy Nicol.

The Fifth Beatles is set for Phase 2, right after the conclusion of the Rutles trilogy but before the Concert for Bangladesh movie. I hear they’re filming a reenactment of the entire show for that one and the director’s cut of Ravi Shankar’s set is gonna be five hours long.

What about the Concert for George movie? A bunch of the players in that concert are still alive.

Though they may not be in 2027.

The ‘Fifth Beatle’ has most often been assigned to George Martin. Billy Preston sometimes gets mentioned.
