I just bought Lost Horizons by Lemon Jelly, and I feel the need to spread the message.
I can’t get over how good this is. It’s a fusion of musical styles and samples, combining folk, jazz, easy listening, arabic chanter music, nursery rhymes, all wrapped up in a laid-back dance breakbeat. Above all, it’s happy music (apart from the macabre Experiment no. 6).
The highlight for me so far is the track Nice weather for ducks: beautiful acoustic guitar, and a wonderfully feelgood brass section, and with the chorus “All the ducks are swimming in the water, fal-de-ral-de-ral-do”. Bonkers.
They’ve also got a really cool website, though you need broadband to look at it.
jjimm do you have their previous set lemonjelly.ky I bought this as soon as possible after it came out on the strength of hearing The Staunton Lick and was blown away.Strangely I haven’t yet gotten around to buying Lost Horizons but its on my shortlist.
Since the topic apparently has changed to “name-drop your favorite hipster bands and seem cool” I’d just like to mention The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Buch-Shieber, Liars, Max Tundra, Don Caballero, Themselves and The Books. Thanks, I believe I win.
seriously though, I like both gybe, polyphonic spree and lemon jelly
Crusoe I doubt i’m someone you know but , as I have previously stated on this board, I do indeed love Spaced (Might have got eaten in the Winter Of Missed Content).
And of course the scene at the club is excellent as everybody joins up in time for theA-Team theme.
Boards of Canada - Geogaddi.
The Stooges - Fun House…an oldie but i finally got around to it. now I want it cremated with me
btw doesnt every music thread eventually de-evolve into cats-eye glasses and ragpicker one-upmanship? it seems like people just start making up fucking bands as they go along
