The best <blank> in town!

Tacos…(on soft corn shells) look to see if the double wrap.

Yeah, but to actually see if the gyros are good, you would have to make a quick road trip to Bloomington to compare them to the ones at the Trojan Horse… truely the best I’ve had.

I can tell you a place not to go… it was on Michigan Rd I think, in a strip mall with a Mexican Grocery. They used sour cream instead or Tziki (sp?) and it was truely disgusting.

Go for breakfast and order eggs benedict.

Are the eggs cooked just right? Is the hollandaise homemade or institutional? Did they just slap some ham on there or did they lovingly warm some Canadian bacon in butter until the edges just start to brown? Is the English muffin tough and bready, or toasty and tender? How are the accompanying home fries, and did you have to pay extra for them?

I have done this test at breakfast joints in my area and found the perfect one – homemade English muffin, lightly toasted; delicately frizzled Canadian bacon; beautiful yellow hollandaise with distinct butter and lemon tastes, poached eggs with a slightly runny yolk, home fries that needed no salt and pepper but helped mop up the extra hollandaise. Mmmmm. Breakfast orgasm on a plate.

You had me drooling until you said this and then I knew it was some kind of legend like the Holy Grail or something.

My vote is Pho, a vietnamese speciality. I myself am on a quest here in Austin to find the best Pho is town. Unfortunately, the best I’ve had is way far south of my home so it’s a rare treat. But it has been a delicious quest for sure.

I can barely afford a full week of restaurant food - no need to add in the cost of cholesterol medication on top of it! (Though I do love fish & chips…)

I highly recommend it, though if you’re in that area, might as well travel the extra mile to go to Santorini’s - they’re my favorite as well. If I go gyros, I’ll throw in the Bosphorus as well for a Turkish take on the dish.

Jasmine Thai, up on 86th Street. Though that was pre-Thai Smile 2, which I’ve heard great things about. And I’d probably put Siam Square in Fountain Square above Jasmine as well now.

Oooh… I’m not sure I could put together 7 vietnamese restaurants in this town. I can think of 3 off the top of my head - it’d be a (delicious) stretch.

Is that by Moon Dog (roughly 86th and Gray)? Someone just the other day recommended a Thai place there but couldn’t remember the name.

That’s the one. Portions were good sized, everything was fresh, and they have a much thicker peanut sauce which I really liked. (And their fried bananas were fantastic.)

That’s OK, he’s only having 7.

Cheese cake.

I’m always on the lookout for the best baked French onion soup.

Looking for the best fried chicken in DFW, myself. Brother’s is in the lead, so far.
