The Best Music Video Ever; "I No She Wants Me Back" by RAED

The video was about waffles? I totally didn’t get that. Maybe I’m just too old for the hippety-hop the kids are listening to these days.

Wow, that’s even better than this all-time favorite.

I dunno, that’s no worse than most of the other rap I’ve come across, can’t see any difference really. Hard to tell which is supposed to be good or which is supposed to be bad.

I can’t help but think of Vic Reeves performing pop hits “in the club style”:

I was just reading about a failed X Factor contestant called Collagen Westwood (!), who was just as deluded; it’s as if there’s a subculture of people with absolutely no self-awareness. A complete inability to take a step back and critically evaluate their own work. Because with just a few tweaks this guy could be awesome. The fence, for example - it’s a powerful symbol. The hole, obviously a metaphor. There’s power there, waiting. The way that his mouth and the words don’t match adds a whole new layer of meaning.

Two layers. There’s the words, there’s the words formed by his mouth, and there’s the combination of the two. So that’s three strands of meaning. Most pop videos only have one.

The other thing it reminded me of was this:

Similar location… the lyrics are just as awful, in their own way. But Boy George had the excuse that he was drugged out of his mind, whereas this man looks as if he would benefit from taking *more *drugs, not less.

I think there really is one - we see them all the time on shows like “X Factor” and “American Idol.” They even have people telling them they’re awesome when they really, really aren’t. Their families are apparently similarly oblivious.

I was thinking the same thing, uncanny resemblance.

I think we’ve just been** RickJayrolled**.
