My votes would be-
“Repeater”-Fugazi
“Damaged”-Black Flag
“Group sex”-the Circle Jerks
and gotta include the first one by the Crucif*cks.

Eh…Scratch what I said before. I wanna pick the Bad Brains ROIR album.
Jon
I would have to go with Energy by Operation Ivy. The vocals are harsh, the quality is raw, the energy is tangible. The politics are understated, the lyrics are intelligent, the music is catchy. I worship at the alter of Op Ivy.
Yeah, but they lose points for all the horrible “ska-punk” they influenced.
Jon
But they get those points back for containing the seeds that grew to be Rancid, the Dance Hall Crashers, the Transplants, and Common Rider, surely.
I’m with you, Crinklebat. Under the Big Black Sun.
BTW, anybody know where I can get a copy of Rude Boy?
In highschool, my favorites were:
Circle Jerks - Wonderful
Minor Threat - Out Of Step
Misfits - Walk Among Us
That was like 15 years ago, though. These days, I prefer:
Fugazi - Argument and In On The Kill Taker
Sonic Youth - Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star and Dirty
Primus - Sailing The Seas Of Cheese
I don’t know if those last two artists count as punk rock, though I think they’re close enough.
Also, as far as the Sex Pistols go, I always thought Flogging A Dead Horse was their best album. *Never Mind The Bullocks . . . * was ok, but not nearly as good.
I will have to go with The Clash’s first album, particularly the US version. Nothing has better blended politics with really, really catchy songs. It’s got punk attitude, rock traditionalism, and reggae beats with not a single piece of filler. Plus, The Clash is The Only Band That Matters.
London Calling
all really great choices, and OWN most of them (on vinyl, sigh)-but you are really missing out if you havent heard the “angry samoans”-back from samoa". i am not saying that there are places to SAMPLE this stuff are out there…
you are really missing out if you have never heard"you stupid jerk"…the greatest punk rock song of all time.
i really like the clash, the jam, the damned, the stranglers.
but thats just for starts…
I am going to say “the Dwarves are young and good looking.” ** has to be among my favorites of all time. Not a stinker in the bunch… Also ** “Love is dead” By The Mr. T experience.
This isn’t a vote for historical significance.
…I loved Dag Nasty…Brian Baker was also in Minor Threat and Bad Religion…Dave Smalley was part of ALL and is still in Down By Law…I would play this album nonstop…I still break it out for roadtrips…

timeless
Americans don’t even know the meaning of Punk.
My faves:
The Misfits Walk Among Us. I remember this being reissued in 1988 after being out of print for years, and practically running to the record store to get it. Still my favorite punk album.
Black Flag’s The First Four Years. Not technically a “album” per se, but mandatory to any CD collection.
Bad Brains, self-titled debut (which at one point was retitled by Caroline Records as Attitude: The ROIR Sessions , I believe? but not sure) Their *I Against I * is also required listening.
Dead Kennedy’s *Plastic Surgery Disasters *.
Let us not forget the cowpunks, my friends.
I nominate Lost & Found by Jason & the Scorchers.
agreed.
I’d choose
US: Bad Brains - Self Titled
Ireland: Stiff Little Fingers - Nobody’s Heroes
England: The Clash - Self Titled (UK Version)
Canada: Personality Crisis - Creatures for a While
Various Album: Punk & Disorderly from Cherry Red Records
Not gonna post a vote for favorites… but i must say Bravo on mentioning Mission of Burma. Not to many people know of them and I happened to catch their brief reuinion tour last year when they hit Seattle.
Ok I lied I’ll list a few of my fave albums but I refuse to pick one:
Bad Religion - No Control
DK - Plastic Surgury Disasters
Mission of Burma - The Terrible Trust About Burma
The Weirdos - Who What When Where Why
Descendants - Milo goes to College
Misfits - Static Age
The Dickies - Stukas Over Disneyland
Ramones - End of the Century
