Just got home from an all-day trip to Nashville. The friendly mail lady had left a package at my back door sent by Czarcasm from the left coast. The note inside read, “When I went to Kentucky this summer I toured a small batch bourbon distillery, Wilderness Trail. Thought you might like the souvenirs I picked up there. Czarcasm”
Inside were FOUR Wilderness Trail shot glasses and a beautiful hardcover book: “The Bourbon Bible.” This is an outstanding volume giving the lowdown on 140 bourbons! The book now occupies a place of honor on my bar bookshelf. I just blessed one of the glasses tonight with a shot of Pappy Van Winkle.
Warm thanks, Czarcasm. The package is more special since you were my recipient last year.
It’s been two weeks since my parcel was handed to the lady behind the counter at my local post office, bound for the UK. I’m beginning to despair it may have run afoul of postal regulations!
It was worth waiting for though. 2 shot glasses! 2 miniature bottles of Jack Daniels! A Moon Pie! 2 chewy things that the kids loved! And a key ring! It’s all going on, thank you so much!
I sent mine out on Saturday, I just haven’t told people. It’s also crossing the Atlantic, so we’ll see how long that takes.
I see I’m the only one who has yet to mail their packages. ::hangs head in shame::
I’ve had a helluva time getting my hands on decent swag – my usual places haven’t had much. But I finally found some acceptable stuff and my boxes are going out this week, promise.
Excellent! Those “chewy things” were Goo Goo Clusters, created in Nashville in 1912. Per Wikipedia, “Goo Goo Cluster is considered the first combination candy bar, meaning it contained several types of candy rather than an all-chocolate bar .”
I hope you enjoyed the Moon Pie - it was invented in Chattanooga.
Glad it got there! On the declaration form, where I swore the parcel contained no liquids or alcohol, I think I said I was sending a key chain, a coffee mug, and a decal!
Came home to find a package from @Baker sitting on the porch!
2, yes, TWO shot glasses: one Kansas shot glass with some flowers on it and another KC Chiefs shot glass!
Also in the box were some chocolate covered sunflower seeds (which my wife has already snagged) and some special Kansas BBQ rub. Now I want to fire up the Weber and cook some chicken thighs!
Found on my front porch today, courtesy of the USPS, a neat box consigned from Raleigh North Carolina … the Millbrook Station to be precise. Within therein is a “Bunch of Jerks” shot glass which has been promptly christened with some Chivas XV, sufficient munchies to suggest that the populace of NC don’t think Australia has snack food, a stubbie holder and selection of coasters, of which no Australian can possess sufficient and some Bojangles seasoning to compare with the Charlie Vergos Rendezvous from Memphis I received last time (which was damned good and I ordered a restock).
Now I’d thank the guy personally and profusely but determining the name is complicated by the fact it was fully obscured by a label. I can tell their address and phone number, but not their handle. You’ll need to unmask yourself Sir or Madam!
So whomever you are, thank you for your generosity.
I got a wonderful package, but I am sorry I can’t read the name well. I think the first name is John, it’s an international package from Wales. TWO beautiful shotglasses, one from Devon and one from Wales. There’s a package of candy sticks, the first one I’ve gobbled down is licorice. There’s a Welsh sticker and a plushie on a keychain. It’s a one eyed creature from the Olympics. Then there is a beautiful silver teaspoon and a pencil and eraser set with Welsh emblems.
Whoever this is let me know better so I can thank you better.
I’m glad it got there, @Baker! I’m actually in Devon, but holiday in Wales and picked a bunch of tourist stuff up for such purposes. I’m nearly out of those Olympics plushes, though, but I suppose it has been 10 years since London 2012.
I did watch some of the 2012 Olympics, but I don’t recall the mascot. The part I liked the best was James Bond and the Queen jumping out of the helicopter. Yeah, right, but I think it proved she had a great sense of humor, and it did get her a credit on the IMDB.
My BIL has Welsh heritage but it’s two generations back. My sister has made him Welsh rarebit sometimes. There’s a church here in Topeka named St. David’s, for the Welsh saint.
Now I need to go out and buy something to put in the glasses!
I’ll take a risk and out them, your sender was dogbutler!
So I’ve been sicker and mostly bedbound but I finally got the energy to drag my carcass down to the package store to ship my two packages – one heading to @dogbutler in North Carolina and the other to @Sir_T-Cups in hurricane-ravaged Florida. I’m ashamed that I’m the last one to send, but my parcels are in the mail as I type this – or at least, in the hands of the PO which I guess is the next best thing.
Another big thank you to @Baker for these. They’re called Sunny Seeds and they’re sunflower seeds that have a candy coating on them, much like M&M’s or Reese’s Pieces have. Unlike those candies though they aren’t overly sweet. They’re available on Amazon and I would highly recommend them for anyone who has a bit of a sweet tooth but doesn’t want the sugar overload of actual candy.
Once mine are delivered that will be a wrap on the 2022 SGE. I told my wife I need to get some new shelving for my shot glass collection, which is approaching 100. Hoefully we can keep this going for years to come.
But do you have Nabs(the Lance crackers)? You’re welcome. Funny thing,I had packed the “Lonerider: Ales For Outlaws” koozie before I knew I was sending it to Austrailia.
I received your package! Thank you so so much. I got multiple shot glasses as well as two awesome magnets. Magnets that are on the fridge and have already been pulled off and put back on a million times by my one year old.
I’m once again touched by the kindness of this thread and group. Thank you again for including me even though I couldn’t play myself.
