The Biden Administration - the first 1,500 days [NOT an Afghanistan discussion]

Even some crazed Republican’s I interact with thought that Trump should spend less time tweeting and rallying (and I wouldn’t be surprised to find a quote from Cornyn either implying or explicitly saying it). Now he thinks it was a good thing to be emulated?

Nah, he doesn’t think that. He doesn’t think anything. He’s just flapping his gums and finding stuff about Biden to criticize.

And at the Pentagon: Biden picks first woman to be secretary of the Army

Not sure exactly where this fits, but it did happen during the first 1,500 days:

Just did a quick comparison: the Clusterfuck thread was at post 3345 by this point in '17. That was a great deal more discussion noise (~5x as much) in the same time frame. Come on, people, pick up the pace. Do you want this thread to last until 20 Jan '29?

Wouldn’t mind if a dem administration did.
And maybe a little bit past that.

Well, dang. If the man’s gonna stick to Presidentin’ and NOT tweet 495 million times per day and NOT insult ethnic groups, heads of state, and historic figures and NOT yank us out of international organizations every 15 minutes, what the heck are we supposed to discuss? He doesn’t even frickin’ play golf! Bo-RING! Thank God.

If only.

Anyone notice that Biden does actually have a twitter account?

He (or more likely a PR agent) even posts to it nearly every day.

His account (PotUS) tweets two or three times a day on average. Sometimes it will be silent for a couple days, some days it will issue five or six tweets. They are usually bland, coherent and insightful rather than inciteful. Twitter is lede dialog, which does not lend itself to discussing complex issues, so he seems to reserve his meaningful word things for more suitable media.

Bo-RING!

 :+1:t4: :champagne: :clinking_glasses:

Exactly. I personally find it much better not having the media reporting on his every tweet.

Like I said:

What’s President Joe Biden’s position on the legal travails of Representative Matt Gaetz? Where does he stand on the removal of some Dr. Seuss books from publication? What public comments did he make about the Japanese golfer who won the Masters last weekend? What does President Joe Biden think about NFTs? After copious research, I believe the answers to those questions are none, he doesn’t, he didn’t, and he almost definitely has no idea what that is.

Oh god, four years of “In a late night tweet, President Trump stated arf argle bark bark thppph!” was enough. Boring, please.

If I were on Biden’s team, I’d advise against this. It doesn’t accomplish much, and at worst presents regular opportunities for unforced errors.

The term ‘Presidential tweet’ just reminds me of the previous guy. The President of the United States of America has a press office and a bully pulpit; that should be enough.

Then again, I’m old.

In the sense that twitter does not make sense as a tool for the President (or, quite frankly, any elected official), I would tend to agree. It gives these people too much opportunity to make foolish, perhaps dangerous, statements at the drop of a hat. Or to report where the officials are just now sheltering from the crazy mob. Public officials should be banned from standard social media. Even during campaign season.

Apparently the administration hasn’t raised the refugee cap like Biden said they would. Hopefully it’s just delayed - if not, this would be a terrible betrayal IMO.

I mean he could at least give us some wandavision hot takes.
