That smarts.
Funny!
I liked that a lot, as well. She’s lucky to have Leonard, and I think that she’s finally realizing it. (Took her long enough…) Most of her previous boyfriend were dumb as bricks!
Those were great. In case anyone didn’t catch them all:
Couples Sheldon likes:
R2D2 & C3PO
Hewlett & Packard
Batman & Robin
Jobs & Wozniak
Kirk & Spock
Arthur Dent & Ford Prefect
The Doctor & A Dalek (kudos for not writing Doctor Who!)
Couples Amy likes:
Cinderella & Prince Charming
Antony & Cleopatra
Blossom & Joey (:D)
Lady & Tramp
Romeo & Juliet
Jack & Rose
Dharma & Greg
I was exepecting the Curies as well, or to steal an idea from another sitcom (Empty Nest?), Madam Curie and Radium
Brian
My first thought here was that this was Jack Harkness and Rose Tyler.
Mine too.
Wait, it’s not?!
Well why couldn’t he agree to that? Jack’s varied and large sexual appetite? C’mon though, it’s Whoverse!
What’s a hicky?
Jim Parsons delivery of that line was dead on perfect.
I’m going to assume since there hasn’t been an answer that there was no real resolution to the dumping of Leonard storyline. Since I’ve come to BBT through repeats on local stations and have not followed from the beginning I need to ask: Is this common?
I think there’s usually a throw away bit to explain away a ‘thing’. Like the Buzz Aldrin video and Wolowitz’s space spaciness. My husband swears there was a scene where Penny tells Leonard to stop alluding to marriage because it made her uncomfortable but I would have remembered something like that.
yes she has told him to stop being serious about the relationship and stop thanking her for having sex; both multiple times. she has presented a strong streak of nonattachment.
some movement of the nature of their relationship follows other characters relationships changing.
I think it is worth noting that NONE of Sheldon’s suggestions have a female in them. They are all males or robots (or Daleks, I suppose).
Yes, that’s why she broke up with him before. I’m talking about this season. Did she tell him this again or did they just drop the breaking up story line without resolution?
Yeah. Thanks standingwave for posting the list.
Most of Amy’s choices are well-known romantic pairings in literature or pop culture - except for Blossom and Joey, who were siblings. I wonder if they didn’t think we’d get the joke if it were ‘Blossom and Vinnie’, since Joey is the more recognizable character to casual viewers of the show.
No resolution was made other than the jealousy of the new assistant bit.
Yes it is common for them to drop or at least ignore story lines. More likely than not they have several writing teams and consistency within the overall arc is of more importance to some teams than to others. They may come back to it. May not. Honestly it seems like they are floundering with where to take these characters.
This episode was the resolution. Penny saw again in Leonard what attracted her in the first place, and accepted that it still does it for her, reaffirming their relationship.
Ah, perfect! And so much better than her staying with him because she felt sorry for him and his sad puppy-dog eyes.
But didn’t she refer to him as her boyfriend, and go to his lab because her friends had encouraged her to do things that made him, her boyfriend, happy, like being interested in what he does, at the start of the ep.
They, for the ep, resolved her uncertainty before the ep started. This just also resolved her lack of satisfaction with his sexual performance. (“He really tries hard.”) Now he just needs to talk nerdy to her.
Wasn’t it just near the end of the last season and in this go around of their relationship that he proposed during sex? Which she was upset over and later told him a firm “No” as an answer.
