The Big Bang Theory 3/21 -- The Lofty Undergrad Pre-emption

WTF???

Isn’t this why they have sports channels? Or are those all too busy showing syndicated episodes of Sports Night and Friday Night Lights?

No shit. Put all sports on channels we don’t have to watch, and stop pre-empting stuff I **want to *see.

*- Does not apply to Dodger games.

NBC aired a new Community and two new episode sof 1600 Penn with an informercial about allied health in between.

This thread gave me a brief panic. My job involves work on TV shows on the day of air, and for a moment, I thought I had overlooked a new Big Bang Theory.

Ya bastard.

My husband wanted me to go out with him on Thursday night, and I checked to see if we’d be missing a new BBT, so I knew about the basketball stuff. And at least I didn’t totally hate having to go out on Thursday.

I try to keep track of when American and British TV shows air for… reasons that may incriminate me… so I use this handy-dandy website that does the tracking for me. For that reason I was pretty sure that there was no Big Bang Theory tonight.

I use TV Rage. It tracks the shows you “subscribe to” and lets you know when something new airs. You have to program it with the show you follow but in the long run it’s a time saver.

I also take a daily glance at TV Guide’s What’s New Tonight to see if there’s anything else worth watching. Which there usually isn’t.

I think the decision to cut from the game and run “Heidi” was the right thing to do.

I often complain right here in Cafe Society about football pushing Sunday evening programming back.

After all, the game is played in four fifteen minute quarters. Why does it always seem to take three and a half hours to play?

“…After all, the game is played in four fifteen minute quarters. …”

If I may, let me answer this question with another question:

Why does it take about 42 minutes to watch an hour long episode of The Amazing Race on my DVR?

Lucky you. On your station, the infomercial only pre-empted a rerun of The Office. On my station they pre-empted the new Community for an infomercial.

60 Minutes is what pushes Sunday evening programming back, not football. Fox is very rarely delayed, for example, and it shows as much football as CBS.

It doesn’t.

BTW…nicely done, naming the episode…

Thanks very much. I was quite proud of that, actually.

What the fuck is with NBC affiliates and this shit? Ours has been preempting Whitney several weeks in a row (understandable, given that Whitney is terrible, but c’mon, you’re an NBC channel? You run NBC shows no matter how awful!) and they’re also preempting the upcoming week’s episode of Go On that NBC has been hyping due to Courteney Cox appearing on the show (which stars her former costar Matthew Perry).

At least with OnDemand I should still be able to watch. A couple years ago they were preempting Community for months on end, and NBC wasn’t on OnDemand at the time.

I hate you WDIV, YOU STUPID POOPY HEADS!
