The Big Bang Theory, Season Eleven, Episode Six (November 2, 2017) -- "The Proton Regeneration"

I am starting this thread in anticipation of tonight’s episode.

I enjoyed it, but the gang was really bitchy to each other tonight.

Missed it. And last week I sorta watched in at a Honda dealership as me and the hubby bought a car. I’m slipping.

I wasn’t too crazy about the whole “Penny can’t deal with a baby” thing. A bit funny at first, but it went on for too long!

I’m also hoping that the “Wil Wheaton is my mortal enemy again!” storyline isn’t going to be a big thing in later episodes. He was funny as Sheldon’s “archenemy” in previous seasons, but is better as a “Show-biz friend” who shows up occasionally, if you ask me. Maybe Wheaton will have Sheldon on the “Professor Proton” show as a recurring character, thus placating him.

Howard ordered kung pao chicken?

What’s wrong with that?

I liked how everyone turned and walked back down the stairs when Sheldon yelled ‘Wheaton!!’.

Kung pao chicken includes peanuts, although I imagine any Chinese dish would likely be cross-contaminated anyway.

Original Evil Wil Wheaton was a huge dick. If they continue this story line as Evil Wil Wheaton: The Next Generation, it’s Sheldon who’s being the unreasonable one. That would put a different spin on things.

Contains peanuts.

I actually laughed out loud a few times this week, so I put this episode in the plus column. Penny had the best line, I think, in the opening bit, but now I can’t remember what it was.

Oh, yes, and if I never have to see the beloved but now dead Professor Proton again, it will be too soon. Newhart has always been a one-note actor with maybe two bits of schtick to his name, and I got tired of him when he was a psychologist in Chicago. Let him, and me, rest in peace, please!

My theory has always been that Newhart wasn’t a comedian, he was just such a spectacularly good straight man that everyone around him became funny. Even when he was doing stand-up, alone on stage, the other guy got all the good lines (by way of an imaginary phone call).

He’s not at the top of his game on TBBT, but he’s been so good, for so long, I hope he gets to do whatever he wants to these days.

Yeah, that was funny!

Raj wasn’t around much. They could have played him and Penny off each other in caring for Halley. I know they don’t want to show the actual baby, but overheard fights about how best to burp/feed/diaper would have been funny. Bonus points if Stuart shows up and takes care of the baby while Penny and Raj are squaring off.

Yeah. His shrink character was just there for all the funny, crazy people to orbit around.

Did anyone else think it was going to turn out that Penny was faking Halley’s first word?

And how the hell is Bernie only 16 weeks pregnant? Are they sure it’s not twins?

I forgot about the peanuts in the Kung Pao Chicken and I just had it the other day! :smack:

I would think Bernadette would be smart enough to tell them to leave out the peanuts though.

Yes, I thought so.

Wil had some line about it being hard to tell the difference between being Sheldon’s friend and his sworn enemy which was funny because it’s true; as often noted in these threads, Sheldon is generally a terrible friend and no one quite understands why any one puts up with him, especially socially.

The show has a problem with how far along in the pregnancy Bernadette is. Melissa Rauch is actually about seven or eight months pregnant. The character of Bernadette is three or four months pregnant. They are trying to hide the discrepancy by covering up her belly as much as possible and having the other characters remark on how she looks further along than she actually is (which sometimes happens).
