The Biggest Loser 4/7

I suspect I may be the only person left watching this show, but I just have to vent a little.

Ron is a whiny crybaby asshole.

You’re a competitor. They are competitors. This is a competition. You put everyone on the spot and ask them “are you going to vote me off?” and what do you expect them to say? You and Mike are so flippin’ angry that they voted to send you home, but wake up, asshole- YOU’RE STILL ON THE SHOW! At what point do you think it’s OK for them to play for themselves instead of playing to make friends? When it’s down to you and one other contestant? Because I have news for you, big guy- that ain’t gonna happen.

I don’t know how you continue to lose weight every week when you can’t even compete in any of the challenges, but you’re not going to win this thing. Somebody is going to vote you off pretty soon. Maybe the reality of that hasn’t dawned on you yet.

OK, sorry. I just had to get that out there.

Last point- I was cracking up at Tara eating over 4000 calories worth of cupcakes and soft pretzels. The girl has no willpower.

Feel free to, you know, weigh in with your thoughts.

Heh.

At least the players are starting to catch on to Ron’s manipulation. I’ve been screaming at them for weeks to vote him home since he’s plainly stated he’s only there to protect his son.

I don’t know if Ron’s in the wrong in this specific case. He’s right when he says that Filipe’s “you’ll be fine” was Filipe trying to say he wasn’t voting for Ron in a way that gave him an out later.

Having said that, they should have voted Ron out weeks ago. There was a whole series of episodes where that team kept complaining that they were losing everything, and then kept voting out all their strong players. It doesn’t seem like Ron really has to do anything to be this “godfather” they talk about. He just says it’s somebody’s time to go and people vote them out.

Side point: more and more I dislike the ways they combine the competitive stuff with the weight loss stuff.

I think Felipe’s answer was pretty strategic. “You’ll be fine” when you’re home, because you obviously have the ability to lose weight, you’re a rational human being and you clearly want to improve your health. Or, “You’ll be fine” at the vote-out, because I’m not sending you home. Either way, Felipe was strategically playing the game the right way.

But more importantly, you’re an adult, Ron. Quit bitching because your feelings were hurt. Does it really bother you that much, what Felipe said? Or are you more angry at yourself for foolishly interpreting his answer the way you wanted to, only to find out you had been played?

As with any of these “vote off” competitions, if I was a contestant I wouldn’t tip my hand either. The players wouldn’t know until the vote was revealed which way I voted.

Ron’s son has displayed more maturity and good sense during this thing than Ron is right now. Mike will be fine on his own.

Felipe’s got problems though. The whole reason he and Sione voted for Ron last week was because of Ron’s “betrayal” the week before. Ron suggested Felipe should go home, but in the end he voted to send Aubrey home–not Felipe. So what were they so pissed off about?

Ron’s pronouncements about who should go home do annoy me. And I loved Tara’s line about horse heads in peoples’ beds. But Ron is working hard–he’s lost 113 pounds (plus, I think, the 9 pounds he lost this week), more than Felipe has lost. And he’s done it with a very bad knee, and a host of medical problems. He apparently does a lot of work in the pool that never gets shown. He can’t help in the challenges, but Kristin sat out a lot of challenges too due to some medical issue they never talked about.

My favorites this season are Kristin, Tara, and Mike. I hope one of them takes it all.

You’re out of your mind. Tara is the toughest contestant in show history - including all the other winners - by an order of magnitude. She makes Ali and that little Asian girl from a few seasons back both look lazy in comparison. She’s the most mentally tough go-getter I’ve ever seen on any reality show ever.

I hope she wins.
