Nigel Farage resigned as leader of the U.K. Independence Party after the EU referendum. There was a leadership race with an odd twist in which Steven Woolfe was disqualified because he submitted his leadership application 17 minutes too late.
Diane James, who admires Vladimir Putin, won the leadership race in September. However, she resigned for ‘personal reasons’ after only 18 days.
Today, there was apparently a fist fight during a meeting of UKIP members of the European Parliament, which resulted in Steven Woolfe being rushed to the hospital after an apparent punch in the face. No reason was disclosed for the altercation, but it very well be because Woolfe admitted he considered defecting to the Tories.
What an odd turn of events in the leadership race of a relatively minor party, which doesn’t seem to have much of a reason to exist after the EU referendum.
