Since Halloween is almost on us, I’m in search of new horror movies to watch. As such, I stumbled across a documentary for “The Blackout Experience.”
It’s details? TBE began in New York in 2009 as one of the most immersive and extreme haunted house attractions that there is. The actors can touch you, put things in your mouth and bags over your head, make you crawl, go through extensive amounts of darkness, subject you to nudity and perverse sexual acts, all alone. And I’m sure there’s more, but that’s the gist from years past. Since then, it’s branched out to other locations and has even started some sort of interactive home experience called “Twenty One.” Needless to say, it seems like a lot of bang for your horror pleasure.
Anyway, what I’d like to know is if any Dopers have been? If so, what did you think? If you haven’t, have you ever encountered anything even remotely close to this? I remember several years ago, coming across some videos of a home haunt in California that was similar, but I can’t recall anymore information about it except that the owners were eventually going to cross over into commercial haunting. Perhaps someone went there?
Just tell me your most scary paid-for haunted house experiences, if nothing else. I love this stuff and though I probably won’t get to visit any this go 'round, it’s always good to have Halloween Goals.
