The Bradies vs. Gilligan

Which of these shows had more episodes? And, which of these shows had more TV movies made from the sit-com? - Jinx

Gilligan’s Island ran from 1964-1967, for 98 episodes. It had at least two TV movies I can recall - Rescue from Gilligan’s Island and The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan’s Island.

The Brady Bunch ran from 1969-1974, for 117 episodes. It had, technically, only one TV movie - A Very Brady Christmas.*

*I say technically because it did come back as The Brady Kids and a few other incarnations, but not as an actual TV movie.

There were actually three Gilligan’s Island TV movies. You forgot “Castaways on Gilligan’s Island” which was aired in 1979 (Rescue was '78 and Globetrotters was '81).

There were also two cartoon series with the original cast (minus Ginger, Mary Ann played both parts). In 1974 there was The New Adventures of Gilligan , followed by Gilligan’s Planet in 1982.

I think it’s obvious the Seven Stranded Castaways have The Bunch beat.

Yowzers! Two Mary Anns!

And wasn’t there also an “Escape from Gilligan’s Island”?

Don’t forget The Brady Brides, an incredibly short-lived spin-off featuring the two older daughters (and their new husbands) sharing a large house.

No, seriously.

The Bradys also had one or two successful albums, making them a cross-genre threat.

And don’t forget the Brady Bunch Variety Hour.

Happy

Yeah but they haven’t made a cheesy Hollywood version of Gilligan’s Island yet.

Yet

<Shudder>

Chalk up TWO TV movies for the Bradys. I’m almost positive that The Brady Brides was a two-hour TV-movie. It also served as the pilot for the short-lived TV series, but nonetheless it was a stand-alone movie. Every now & then it’s rerun, but I haven’t seen it for quite some time.

So, the Brady’s had more episodes than Gilligan…had two TV movies, a cartoon, and three TV revivals: The Brady Brides, the variety show, and the hour long dramedy The Bradys.

Seems like the Bunch have the Castaways beat by a mile!

For the love of Jehosaphat…The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel were parodies! ROFL-worthy parodies, I might add. I’m going to assume you didn’t see either one.

But which one has more porno spoof potential?
