Dreary, rainy day here. We went to Bob Evans for breakfast because I wanted an omelette. They didn’t have mushrooms, dammit, and the omelette was floating in grease!! I sopped a bunch of it up with a napkin. ick.
Afterwards, we stopped at Lowe’s so **FCD **could get a vacuum cleaner for his office and I got a long-handled scrub brush so I don’t have to get on my knees to clean behind the toilet. YAY!
Major plan for today is to rearrange the freezers so I can fit the turkey and broth in one of them. Beyond that, I don’t intend to do much of anything.
Hung out with Dad and some other family for a few days. Wednesday, I took him to town to get some groceries and the wind just about blew us to Ohio. We took his truck (he can’t get in and out of my car) and driving a vehicle with a higher center of gravity in that wind was a challenge.
We enjoyed the visit, he has enough Polish food in the freezer to have a meal a week for a couple of months from it. It rained the whole 400 miles home, so it took an extra hour. I was exhausted once I got in, as was Nelson.
Today, I need to pick up a few groceries and finish the laundry from the trip.
Gpt the groceries. I thought I ordered a loaf of bread, but I guess I didn’t.
Now I’m just waiting for everybody to get here. I have almost everything prepped and ready to go.
It is going to be such a mish mash of food, roasted cabbage, turkey tetrazzini, ham and N.O.T. casserole (or maybe I’ll roast the N.O.T. with the cabbage and have the ham on the side, fake crab salad, cocktail rye bread, and chocolate crunch ice cream cake for dessert.
Yep, nothing goes together.
That’ll teach them for coming after Thanksgiving instead of before.
Sounds good Sari. Tree is 3/4 fluffy. Gotta use a ladder to get the top. It’s not only tall but big around. I don’t even know if the fence I got to go around it will fit it and if not it will be a constant battle to keep Buddy out of it. Right now he is scared of it. Of course when I got the tree after Christmas last year I didn’t know I would have this hellion. Today is five months since my perfect boy crossed the rainbow bridge.
Happy day after birthday, Ms. Sunny.
My out-of-towners all left this morning. I’ve gotten the floors cleaned. Kitchen is clean, I worked on it while all the cooking was going on, so it wasn’t too bad. The fridge was a disaster. It’s clean now. I gotta strip the beds and wash sheets. Tomorrow. Bathrooms need doing.
The cat’s have velcroed themselves to me. For love or punishment? I’m not sure.
I’M SO HAPPY THE CHIHUAHUAS HAVE GONE!!!
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and had brunch. 'Twas a very nice service. We sang one of my favorite hymns for Advent, Lo! He Comes With Clouds Descending. The link has the words along with the music just in case anyone feels the need to sing along. Brunch was teh nummy! Lots and lots of foodstuffs and a great variety. Advent Lessons and Carols shall get underway shortly. Obviously, we are not there. Both of us came down with a case of JUST CAN’T, so we are unable to leave da cave.
Afternoon all. Back in Casa Rat safe and sound, went from rainy and 30’s F to Sunny and 50’s in about 6.5 hours (would have been faster except for the obligatory Nashville traffic jam). Letting the house warm up (turned the thermostat down to 63F while I was gone, no reason to heat it much more than that while I’m gone).
Had a nice Thanksgiving visit, outside of having to listen to Rush Limbaugh all Thursday morning (my brother and Sis-in-law are rather conservative) there was no strain on family ties. The two Bassets and the English Mastiff were also glad to see me, as I give out copious skritches. Took the family out to the Cheesecake Factory on Firday (glad I only do that twice a year, it was…costly…) after enjoying a great T-day Turkey.
Have read about 1/2 of the e-mails I missed, so will take a look later this evening but probably just start again on Moanday’s MMP.
I also renewed my Straight Dope board membership for another year.
All y’all have a great evening and I’ll see you come Moanday.
Company has left, it was a lot of fun, but honestly how do you people who entertain do it?
I am exhausted.
Friend from park didn’t show up. She works at a pet store, went to the store to give her a dog a bath and found the store closed. The opening person didn’t show up and she stayed there to work.
We have decided that we are going to do Friendsgiving every year and I will be hosting it.
I think I can do this once a year, but I need to get a bigger table and more chairs, as there are a few more friends we want to come.
I’m logged in to irk already. Tomorrow we can fold up the table and take it back upstairs. I have a ton of laundry to do too.
I wanted leftover baked ziti for my supper. It mysteriously disappeared. I napped for an hour. The Big Wrek must’ve came through hungry. He’s savoring his last week of deer camp.
I’m watching TCM Christmas type movies. Kinda depresses me.
Think I’ll make an omelet for my supper.
Have a good Sunday all.
swampy, I vaguely remember playing that hymn at a Methodist church when I belonged to the musician’s union up north as an organist. I worked Protestant, RC and Orthodox churches without discrimination.
Took Nelson to the dog park for a romp with his buddy Watson. While we were there, the temp dropped ~15F and the wind kicked up until we were all too cold (we came dressed for 60F sunny weather) to stay longer. Groceries have been purchased and put away and supper is house special soup and shrimp toast from the cheap Chinese place down the street.
