Thanx NP!
Many thanks, M’Lord Northern Piper!
It’s also on iTunes, or it’s available through the Canadian Music Centre’s website. If’n you just want to have a listen, I have it up at my CBC artist’s page or on my SoundCloud. (Though, of course, I make more money if you buy the physical CD from my website, plus you get all the nifty photos and texts…)
Does anybody have any guesses as to what happened to Patrick Brazeau?
I’m just wondering if Big Ears Teddy has an alibi.
Now that really did make me laugh out loud, LC.
Thank you. Hey, ever see this video? I think it’s funny.
Any chance you’ll be coming through western Canada any time in the future, Le Ministre? I’d love to hear you live.
(And I should get your “Guitarias” CD too; I meant to when I was in TO recently, but my schedule wouldn’t allow a meeting.)
In other news, an old radio friend whom I was on the air years ago, and who is still in broadcasting, has asked that I do some bumpers/liners for his nightly show. So as soon as I can book studio time, I’ll do some spoken-word stuff for him. Not as cool as making a CD, but I’m still pretty happy that he remembered my voice, and asked me.
A very strange verdict in the James Forcillo trial for the 2013 death of Sammy Yatim - the policeman Forcillo is found guilty of attempted murder. The puzzler is that he was acquitted of second degree murder.
For those who haven’t been following this one, what is not in dispute is that Yatim’s death was caused by bullets fired by Forcillo; what was in question was whether Forcillo’s actions were justifiably self-defence.
I’m working on it - I’ll keep you posted if anything comes through…
That’s great that you’re getting to do some voice work! The hardest audition I ever had in my life was for a volunteer position at the CNIB, reading for their audio library collection. They wanted two monologues, some sight-reading from newspaper or magazine articles, and I was required to prepare two pages which they gave me. The pages were from a philosophy textbook outlining the Hegelian dialectic as a response to Immanuel Kant. It all became moot when they told me they needed an iron clad 4 hour commitment every Thursday - that just wouldn’t work out with being out of town for a gig…
I volunteered to be a reader for audio books for the blind when I was a student at Université Laval. They were desperate for Anglo readers for English books, so no audition or specific time commitment.
Rain. In Regina. In the first week of February.
I assume the moon will be turning red soon.
Day before yesterday we had 10°C weather and greenish ground showing. Yesterday we got 20 or so cm of snow. This is the first winter I can remember in New Brunswick where there wasn’t an 8 foot snowpile by the street. This time last year I was running out of space to put the snow. Just hoping that this doesn’t mean that we will have snow in May.
Here just off Lake Ontario we’re deeply worried about ice storms. These are ideal conditions (hovering around 0 with occasional plunges to -15 or so) for a really terrific ice storm, so I definitely wouldn’t be surprised if we see at least one before spring. (Real spring.) Nothing to do in the meantime besides lay in a supply of candles, flashlights, and canned goods.
Well it is 2 in Toronto right now. It was 11 or 12 yesterday. The long range forecast says -13 next Saturday.
Alright, it’s the Superbowl!! Who else is looking forward to seeing the same Belairedirect commercial 12 times?
You mean Shaw Direct? Yep. Thrilling commercials here in Canada. I’m betting on Tim Hortons and Ford to come in heavily too.
No, the insurance company with the guy in armour.
And there will be many, many promos for upcoming CTV shows.
So, if he is acquitted - and I suspect he will be*, does the CBC have a duty (legal, moral or ethical) to give him his job back? Is his career poisoned forever from this?
Could he sue the complainants for loss of earnings, emotional distress etc?
Zeke
- I make no claims as to his guilt or innocence as I have no meaningful idea. I do think that - rightly or wrongly - he will be acquitted.
