The Carl's Jr. $6 Restaurant Cheeseburger Without The Restaurant

Just to make it clear, the “$6 Burger” doesn’t cost $6. It’s like $3.59 or so.

i hate carls jr and all their ads also. (especially the ones with over-amplified eating noise)

a burger for $6.00? is this supposed to be some good deal?

i can name a half dozen places to get REAL food for less than six bucks!

my wife hates them too, but i dont remember why (something to do with the corporate culture and the food sucking also).

i drove across the country last january, and i must say, those eastern state turnpikes have pretty awful food. i remember hardees fried chicken as a poor substitute for KFC.

Ahem…

There’s no such thing as a good burger in South Carolina, since state law mandates that they be cooked at medium or more. Even at Fudruckers, you can’t get a medium rare burger, and anything beyond that becomes sawdust.

However, they did just open a Steak N Shake here–I’ll have to see if the wafer-thin burger patty holds up to SC’s ridiculous health codes.

Got a couple of Fuddrucker’s around here. They are only better than average though.

Hardee’s is all over the Southern US or at least all over Alabama. In fact they are using the EXACT same commercials with the minor name change of course.

  1. CJ’s is actually Hardee’s? Damn, that ruined a (somewhat) decent chain. CJ’s in Monterey just flat out sucks.

  2. So, what the heck is Mosburger called in the US? I got addicted to their Spa-i-see Cheezuh Mosuh Bu-gah (Spicy Cheese Mos-burger) when I lived in Japan back before I swore off meat.

  3. The $6 burger goes for $3.59? Must be priced in Canadian coin. ::d&r::

oh, man! i got the all time good hamburger story to tell you all, but i cant type it!! it’s an oral thing, and typing it would ruin the story!

i guess you really had to be there…

Got a Fuddrucker’s not a mile from my house in San Diego.

No, it’s actually like this: A burger at Chili’s or TGI Friday will cost about $6.00. Carl’s Jr. is claiming that the Six Dollar Burger is “just like” a burger you’d get at one of the expensive places like TGI Friday, but it only costs $3.59. So it’s better to get a $6.00 burger at Carl’s because you save two and a half bucks.

I tried one once. It doesn’t really taste different from the Super Star w/Cheese. But instead of two regular patties you get one double-thick patty.

Nod nod nod. Exactly. And since there’s only one patty, they get away with only one slice of cheese. So, in essence, you’re paying extra for one less cheese slice. Thanks!

It tastes good, but I cannot get the damned thing into my mouth! I actually have to remove the red onions and the tomatoes to make it small enough! (I eat the onions and tomatoes.) Squeezing it wouldn’t help because that would make the ketchup, mayo and mustard squirt out.

Anyone interested in the history of Carls Jr may click here. The gist is that Carl Karcher started the company as a hot dog stand at the corner of Florence and Central in Los Angeles back in 1941. He and his wife then started a barbeque place in Anaheim in 1945 north of where Disneyland is now. They didn’t actually start selling burgers till 1946. By 1977, they had 200 locations, all in California, all with salad bars. The first one outside of California was opened in Las Vegas in 1979. The company purchased Taco Bueno (Texas and Oklahoma) in 1996 and Hardee’s in 1997.

I don’t care too much for their new commercials either, but I still eat breakfast there most days and the place across the street from the library has a great salad bar and I like their Green Burrito menu more than I do Taco Bell’s. (La Salsa is the place to go for Mexican fast food, but it’s more expensive.)

heh heh… i think i must be slightly dyslexic, because whenever i saw fuddruckers, i kept wondering what a ‘drud’ was…

There’s one in beautiful downtown Burbank, as well. Fudruckers… mmmmm…

Unfortunately, that’s not too helpful to stuffinb, as he’s in Oakland.

Sorry I can’t put you any closer, stuffinb, but if you try here, you can get a map to the one in Walnut Creek. Not exactly walking distance, I realize, but maybe you could drive there, if the memory of your Fuddrucker’s burger is a strong enough motivator. Come on! It’s due east of Berkeley! How far could it be?

Johnny, Johnny, Johnn…I know what they mean by the item’s menu title. I was making a joke about the exchange rate between the US coin and Canadian coin.

So, anyone know what the heck Mosburger’s called down in the Lower 48?

I really can’t say about Mosburger’s per se, but here in Orange County, CA, an outfit called Mos 2 was brought in by the fine folks who gave the world the Mosburger. I haven’t eaten at one yet, but according to the sign on top of the building, their menu includes teriyaki and char-broiled chicken. Or maybe it’s char-broiled teriyaki chicken…

Hard to beat In n Out Burger in southern Cal…

We often go to Knollwood in OC for lunch. A burger with cheese and an ortega chili, fries, and a bottomless drink for about six and a half clams. Less if you forego the ortega and cheese.

It’s off of a freeway, and I think the exit is Tustin or 17th. Hey, it’s all I can do to find my way from West L.A. to my office…

Once difference is that Carl’s Jr must have absorbed “The Green Burrito” a few years back and has some of their deep-fried Mexican food on their menu. Hardees does not seem to have this.

Roy’s fried chicken, Roy’s bacon chicmen sandwhich, Roy’s roast beef sandwhich…<Drool drool drool>
