The statement ‘Our country is as big as yours’ is a bit misleading. Assuming you are talking about Australia, the landmass is pretty close in size, but our population is MUCH bigger:
Australia:  19,169,083
USA: 275,562,673
For the same amount of land we have nearly 15 times more people. That is a pretty big difference. Counting all the votes by hand in Australia would be alot easier then doing the same in the USA. I’m not saying it couldn’t be done, but it’s no small difference as far as the required resources (time and manpower).
