Anyone heard about this cat, Lewis , in Connecticut, whose owner was arrested because he allegedly attacked several people (including the Avon Lady …)?
According to the story in the Connecticut Post, the owner turned down an accelerated rehabilitation plea because it would have meant having Lewis put down. So now, the judge has said it will go to trial.
I can’t believe the courts are actually going to try this case! This really seems like a waste of taxpayer’s money. Why not just fine the owner and make her keep the cat indoors? Or maybe this was Lewis’ second offense? The victims claim that he has extra long claws (is that possible?!) and is stealthy when he attacks them. Frankly, I found it hard to keep from laughing about it; it seems ridiculous that they are prosecuting the actions of a pet cat, but I do realize that cat scratches and bites can prove dangerous.
I’d go with a fine for the owner and making the cat stay indoors. Although then he’d still be able to attack the Avon Lady if she came to the front door!
