I was looking out of the kitchen window watching a dragonfly flit around catching bugs when I noticed that the black cat that mooches in my garden had also noticed it. The dragonfly foolishly decided to rest for a bit on the wisteria at cat-reachable height. The cat stalked up like a leopard in a wildlife documentary. If it had been hunting the garden birds I would’ve scared it off but I thought it wouldn’t be quick enough to catch an insect (even a Jurassic sized one). I was wrong, the cat pounced, wrestled the dragonfly to the ground and munched it up a bit. It probably didn’t taste too good so the cat strolled off leaving the wings, head and tail (still twitching) behind.
Now I wish I had intervened, I like having huge colourful insects buzzing round the garden. The cat that mooches in my garden***** is not just mooching it is also killing the wildlife If only it would take on the magpies.
There you go - my first cat post.
***** It also mooches in the garage sleeps on my car and leaves paw prints on the windscreen. If it’s killed of all the dragonflies I may withdraw garage access.
