It looks like I just scored a hit. Damn it!
Could you find a link, headline or something to confirm Virginia Heinlein’s death. I don’t doubt you, okay, I was just interested in knowing more about her.
Everything I found was about her husband. I’m not really into science fiction so I wanted to study-up. I hate feeling/being ignorant about things.
thanks, t-keela
Try here: http://www.sfwa.org/News/vheinlein.htm Its the Science Fiction Writer’s Association’s website with the page announcing her death.
AOL says Richard Crenna died. Anyone have him? I’ll copy and paste the cite since I can’t link from AOL.
Looks like I spoke too soon! (Figures.) It appears that Tuckerfan is our first scorer and winner of the “Opening Kickoff” award. I’ve been stalling because I’m hoping to get some kind of confirmation of Heinlein’s death. I haven’t seen her death reported anywhere else yet. I also need her age at death to get your score.
And nobody picked Crenna.
Well, I’ve not been able to find her age being listed as anything other than “in her eighties” and there’s not been an obit of her on cnn.com or anywhere else that might provide details on to her age. If you want to award me points assuming that her age was 89, that’s fine with me, and I’ll accept any revisions (higher or lower) that might come about if/when I’m able to find out her exact age.
For those playing at home I’ve list-ified the selections and put them on a web page: http://www.toymiata.com/deathpool.htm

Uhh…Eric? The list is great, except on mine it’s supposed to be George Herbert Walker Bush instead of “junior”. Just thought you’d like to make that correction, Thanks. t-keela
You’re quite right, correction made. Sorry. I double checked all the other Bush votes and made sure they were accurate as well.
Eric
By the way, t-keela, John Lee Malvo doesn’t turn 18 until February 18th. So I guess he’s not valid if he dies before then…
Eric
Nell Carter died. Did anyone have her?
No.
Nope, nobody picked Al Hirschfeld, Nedra Volz, or Nell Carter.
Santos, thank you for doing that website.
And I still don’t know how old Virginia Heinlein was. I’m surprised her death wasn’t considered more newsworthy.
According to this link Virginia Heinlein was 86 at the time if her death.
Everytime I get an email notification for this thread, I immediately think, “Who died? And were they on my list?”
Every time I get a link for this thread I think “Who’s posting just to keep it high on the list?”
All righty, then! Thanks, GWVet. So the scoreboard stands at 14 points for Tuckerfan.
Cripes, 2003 is almost 1/6 over, and only one SDMBer has scored so far.
Psychics we are not …
(And I’ll bet everyone opened this thread just to see who died.)
Yep.
