Estee Lauder has passed away.
CNN is reporting her age as 97. The birthday list we have lists her DOB as 1-July-1910 (est). A websearch turned up a reference to 1-July-1908.
Once we work out how many points they are entitled to, two dopers selected Estee Lauder:
ataraxy22
Cicada2003
Hey! People aren’t supposed to die when I’m on vacation!
Well, CNN gave her age as 97, so I’m going with 3 points to both ataraxy22 and Cicada2002. Congratulations and welcome to the scoreboard!
I will do the May 1st update tomorrow.
I believe the 2nd McWirther brother (of Guinness Book fame) died recently. I’m guessing nobody picked him.
Indeed, Norris McWhirter passed away on April 19 at the age of 78. Norris was involved in a rather significant record himself, as he was the timekeeper when Roger Bannister became the first man to officially run a mile in under four minutes.
Darn, now I’m not even in the top ten.
Nope, nobody picked Norris McWhirter.
As of 1 May, the scoreboard stands like so:
Still in the lead with 75 points is Captain Lance Murdoch.
In second place with 51 points is notfrommensa.
Tied for 3rd with 41 points each are
Angel Heart
Caricci
Mullinator and
zoog
Then we got:
cadolphin and
Rico - with 21 points each
earthpuppy
Lathe of Heaven
Mudshark
Saitou and
smam - with 18 points each
Sternvogel - with 16 points
NoGoodNamesLeft and
Santos L Halper - with 15 points each
Single Serving Friend and
Uvula Donor - with 6 points each
Mr. Babbington - with 5 points
ataraxy22 and
Cicada2003 - with 3 points each
and all the rest of us with zip.
Close, but no cigar for me:
"TV ‘Wild Boyz’ Check into Emergency after Ant Attack
TV daredevils Steve-O and Chris Pontius scored a first during a recent trip to Brazil’s rain forests - they needed medical treatment after getting stung by red ants."
With the death of Alan King Sternvogel gets another 24 points, for a total of 40. Yay Sternvogel!
I seriously doubt anyone picked her, but just in case:
Mother of Donny and Marie and the other seven Osmond kids.
Nope, nobody picked her.
Attention Doctor Who fans: Just found out Anthony Ainsley, the actor who played the good Doctor’s arch-nemesis “the Master,” has died. (Nobody picked him.)
Does this mean the universe is safe now?
Is the universe safe?
I dunno. Did Flash Gordon ever vanquish Emperor Ming of Mongo?
And what about “Q” – is he still mucking about?
And The Mule?
75 points! What’s he doing - killing people himself?
C’mon, Courtney Love - Daddy needs a new pair of shoes.
Here is an obituary of the man who once responded to Queen Elizabeth II’s greeting of “How do you do, Mr. King?” by asking “How do you do, Mrs. Queen?”
Q fell a few days short of this century. The gadget man is now Q’s assistant, R. (John Cleese)
John DeLancey is dead? I thought omnipotent beings couldn’t die.
:smack:
oops…Wrong forum, I thought this was a Star-Trek thread, sorry.
Was that MPSIMS enough? It looks like the only way I’m getting in on this thread again.
CNN reports Tony Randall has died at the age of 84. 16 points each to DeVena, Gobear and Skammer.
What cazzle said. Oh, how sad. I knew he was getting up there, but what a classy guy!
