The Celebrity Death Pool 2004

No one picked either of these two.

Are there any names on this list that we may have forgotten?

Cardinal James A. Hickey, who served as bishop of the Cleveland (OH) diocese before being named archbishop of Washington (D.C.) in 1980 and retiring from that post in 2000, has died at the age of 84. He had been appointed to the College of Cardinals in 1988.

But nobody picked him.

Oh dear. R.I.P. John Peel

Nobody picked John Peel.

a35362, I had to trash my bookmarks. Could you enlighten me with the website that had all of our picks again? Thanks.

That’s because he wasn’t supposed to die! It shouldn’t be allowed.

While I’m here, opera star Robert Merrill died, age 85. I would be saddened by this more were I not already devastated by John Peel’s untimely passing. :frowning:

That would be:

Nobody picked Robert Merrill.

Thanks, Spiff.

Elizabeth Kubler-Ross . Sorry to see such a pioneer go, she was a true role model.

Worth at least 21 points! Wooo Hooooo!

I think I now have 54 points. I will defer to the judges superior math skills, however.

When do entries for next year start?

Shirley, where have you been? She died in August and you got your points then. You have 33 points so far (Reagan, Fay Wray, and Kubler-Ross).

Baker, I will open up the 2005 game on December 1st and accept entries through the end of 2004.

Feh. I was on vacation from the 18th of August - 7 September. I like my 54 point scoring better. It’s new Math, dontcha know :stuck_out_tongue: . I know, I’m such a ;j

Yassir Arafat has not assumed room temperature yet, but things are looking up…

Lets all wish Yassir a speedy death so that those who have him on their DP2004 list can score a few extra points.

I don’t wish anybody a speedy death, but I admit that when I heard about ol’ Yassir, I thought, “Hey, he’s on my Dead Pool list.”

Apparently, the official word is that he’s suffering from exhaustion, and he’ll be fine.

The unofficial, “speaking on condition of anonymity” word that he’s not long for this world.

Rumor has that Yassir has metastatic cancer, and his MO would be to deny to the very end, in order to keep up appearances.

His lack of a chosen successor doesn’t bode well for the Palestinians or Israel. A lot of shootings and bombings will follow Arafat’s death.

I decided to put Arafat on my list for next year, so I’m hoping he can hang on for a couple of months.
Sick, I know, but isn’t this whole game a little sick?
