The Celebrity Death Pool 2006

Me, too.

Shirley Ujest, BiblioCat: You’ve probably confused him with his (much better known) father, Emmett Kelly Sr., who died in 1979.

Jeane Kirkpatrick , former UN representative for the U.S. has died at 80.

This one ain’t over yet, there’s still lots of dying to do.

Damn, my '07 list is whittling itself down. I doubt Jeanne would have made the cut, just because I have so many other ripe young ones, but still…

Former good field/no hit shortstop Jose Uribe died in a motor vehicle accident in the Dominican Republic.

Noted bandleader Jay McShann has passed on, at an age estimated as being between 90 and 97.

Heh, I had her on my alternate list for 2007, A lady that never saw a South American dictator she did not like, and she made an Olympic sport of ignoring the death squads in Central America.

This is timely: Pinochet, former Chilean dictator, dies at 91.

YES! I was afraid Weinberger would be my one and only. And I don’t even feel bad about celebrating Pinochet’s death.

World War I veteran Moses Hardy has died.

Singer Georgia Gibbs who had 15 top 40 hits is dead at 87. I’m pretty sure no one had her. I had to post anyway just to mention that she changed her name from Freda Lipschitz. I wonder why she changed it?

Oops two posts in a row. Ahmet Ertegun co-founder of Atlantic Records (Booger played him in Ray) is in a coma with a brain injury he suffered during a fall. I don’t know if anyone had him but it might be an easy 17 points if he can hold out for next year.

Wouldn’t you if your name was Freda?

Sssshhh!

I wouldn’t have said anything if it didn’t look really bad. Reading between the lines I think the family is deciding when they should take him off the machines.

Of course this is from the guy with Ariel Sharon in his 2006 list.

Former Governor of Pennsylvania Raymond Shafer is dead at 89

Former major league shortstop, Jose Uribe dead at 47

That really is bad luck. He also died last week on page 25. What are the chances of that happening?

Poor guy…that’s what he gets for me not searching first.

CNN and CBS are both reporting that actor Peter Boyle has died in New York, aged 71.
