Bill Robinson, who played the outfield for four Major League Baseball teams during a career that lasted from 1966 to ‘83, has died at the age of 64. Robinson was serving as the Dodgers’ minor league hitting coordinator after being the hitting coach for two World Series champions and winning a Series ring as a player with the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates.

Houston-area investigative reporter Marvin Zindler is dead at 85

Zindler’s death has been big news here in Houston, but I wasn’t sure it was notable enough for this contest. He did have a character based on him in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas – does that qualify him as a celebrity?

His reporting is responsible for that musical, and, yes, that’s why I felt he was notable enough for inclusion.
