The Celebrity Death Pool 2008

Yup. He and Patrick Swayze are top of my list for next year, if they survive long enough.

Andrea Mitchell reported on MSNBC that Hamilton Jordan, Jimmy Carter’s chief of staff, has died at 63. But the only mention I can find so far is this political site.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is confirming this

A new one of note: Huntington Hartford, who earned some celebrity over the years by squandering his A&P-inherited fortune on a string of failed pursuits, especially in the arts, has died at 97

There are unconfirmed reports floating thru the intrawebs that author and Myth series creator Robert Lynn Asprin has died

Shit.

I agree. I was going to see him at Marcon this weekend. The latest Myth books were not as good as the early ones, but they were still fun. :frowning:

I devoured them as a teen. I also loved the Thieves World books.

And no more Captain Jester! :frowning:

Both series may continue. Peter Heck has been doing the Phule books and Jody Lynn Nye as been doing the MYTH books. Aspirin’s name was on them, but he was only providing the ideas, not the actual writing.

It is true.

Dick Martin of Rowan and Martin. Age 86

J. R. Simplot, potato billionaire, has died at 99

Family Circus Mom dead at 82 .

Dang it…I could have sworn he was on my list. Must have been a last-minute change on my part.

My Death Pool Cherry is gone! RIP Sydney. :frowning:

Earle Hagen, the prolific composer who co-wrote “Harlem Nocturne” and whistled the Andy Griffith Show theme he penned, has died at the age of 88. Hagen’s other composing credits include the Dick Van Dyke Show theme and the scores for numerous episodes of I Spy.

It was a simpler time back then. Nowadays you have to be a dollar billionaire to impress anyone.
