Indeed. Although, I’ll take the 30% more glee anyway!
ESPN2 has reported that Jack Kramer, tennis legend, is dead , no cite yet. Wiki has his death listed.
Kramer was 88.
while searching for a cite for kramer death, I found that Nobel Laureate Norman E. Borlaug at age 95.
Asaf Ramon, son of Israeli Columbia astronaut Ilan Ramon has been killed in an IAF crash.
Cite.
Nobody had him.
A unique pick for Spiff, who gets off the mark.
How many unique picks have there been this year so far? Are there more or less than last year at this time?
19 out of 44 deaths this year have been unique picks, 43%
Last year at this time it was 14/36, or 39%
In 2009 567/842 total picks were unique, or 67%
In 2008 511/805, or 63%
If your selection is over 100, do you lose points?
Nope - you get zero points but one “successful pick”. 42fish is in this position and I have placed him ahead of people who have zero on both counts.
I have not been consistent in using “number of picks” to break a tie, otherwise MadTheSwine would be ahead of you rather than equal. It isn’t stated anywhere in the rules that “number of picks” breaks a tie; I just thought that 42fish deserved some recognition for having a correct pick, so I placed him ahead of the players with no correct picks.
TV writer producer George Eckstein passes at age 81.
Eckstein wrote the final episode of The Fugitive, which held the record for many years for the most viewed TV episode with 72% of the viewing audience - a record not broken until 1980 and the “Who Shot J.R.?” episode of Dallas.
He also was the producer of the Steven Spielberg-directed classic TV movie Duel, and is the father of actress Hallie Todd.
Woo hoo!
on a sad note, Cathy Crimmins, author of Where is the Mango Princess died at a very young age… doubly sad is that I didn’t have her on my list…
Just reported, Patrick Swayze has finally died.
CNN hasn’t caught up with Swayze yet, but meanwhile, Jim Carroll has gone to the great half-court in the sky. 60’s not old, but it’s a good run for a guy who almost didn’t make it to 21.
Patrick Swayze’s Wikipedia page has been updated, so it must be true.
Finally, some fucking points.
I mean… uh…
We wish all the best for the Swayze family in this time of sadness.
(woo hoo! points!)
I had Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Ted Kennedy and now Swayze. I think this is the best I’ve ever done.
I don’t think I ever had more than one or two in this game.
96 people score. Another 10 get off the mark, leaving just 31 people still with zero points.
All the top 13 players had Swayze except Sublight, so not a lot of change in the positions - GIGObuster moves ahead of Sublight into second place.
