ETA: Simulpost…

Oooo, so close, yet so far; Shirley Ujest had him on her alternate list.

GAH!!!

Good to know that I’m not going insane.

I’m already there, without this.

This game is mine!

Did anyone have Dennis Hopper? I just heard he is in bad shape.

At least a dozen people have him, after his disclosure that he is being treated for prostate cancer. Still, most men with that diagnosis die with it, than die from it.

Eleven.

The chemo kills the cancer and them?

No, they’re just not always deadly. Prostate cancer is often diagnosed late in life and the tumors can grow slowly enough that they are not a mortal danger.

It killed my Brother in Law in a matter of months.

it’s also quite treatable these days - two of my friends are survivors - one for over ten years, the other almost six

Congratulations.
My Physician told me it is considered to be “a grave diagnosis.”

Tsutomu Yamaguchi, one of the very few people known to have survived both atomic bombs, died a few days ago. Anyone have him?

I thought billions of people did.

No

Check out the link, he’s pretty unique- he survived the first bomb while at work in the Mitsubishi plant in Hiroshima, and then despite his wounds, went back to work a couple of days later at the plant in Nagasaki… and was nuked again.

An author of a book about his experience was interviewed on NPR. He told his fellow workers if they were bombed to get under furniture. Just as his boss was berating him for being a liar and a traitor about the bomb, there was a big flash and everyone dove under furniture. Their room was sheltered by a metal stairway that deflected the blast. It was the only area of the factory that survived.

The first bombing was one thing. But after the second one, Tsutomu started to take it personally.

Knut Haugland, last surviving crew member of the Kon Tiki and an all-around amazing guy, has passed away at age 92.
