The Celebrity Death Pool 2010

I so hope he got to record his thoughts on the entire thing. His accounts would be a nice artifact to have.

The story I heard on NPR this morning (I think it was NPR - I listen to one station on my clock radio, and then NPR in my car and it was pre-coffee for both) mentioned that after he survived the 2nd bombing, he stated that he felt it was his duty to share what it was like with TPTB so that they wouldn’t be tempted to make others live through what he did.

IIRC, that included him writing to Obama after he became President.

The book is The Last Train from Hiroshima.

Not to be morbid or anything, but are there stats on the quickest/latest Opening Kickoff Award?

I won the final hours award a couple years back, with Benazir Bhutto. A unique pick at that!

I think there should be a Close, but no Cigar award for anyone me who has someone die but is on their alternate list.

I have links going back four years. The Opening Kickoff Award was Jan 2 on each of the last 3 years, and Jan 6 in 2006.

I still have no clue who he is, but I think a few people have

Artie Lange

In a hospital after a suicide attempt.

And I see now that I didn’t go back far enough in the thread.

Of course then we’d need a rule regarding the number of alternates one is allowed to have. Or can I post a list of 13 celebs plus 18,242 alternates next year to ensure myself the Close, but no Cigar award? But that would pretty much make me a pathetic loser, wouldn’t it?

Never mind. Carry on. Congratulations, Shirley!

The (satellite) radio guy.

Joe Biden’s mother, Jean Finnegan Biden, dead at 92

Doubt anyone had her, but it got reported.

The latest was in 2000; no one scored until Feb. 12.

Art Clokey, the creator of Gumby and Davey and Goliath, has died at age 89. Don’t know if anyone had him.

Not that it matches up with anyone, but “Tom’s Diner” just came up on my iPod: “I open up the paper. There’s a story of an actor who had died while he was drinking. It was no one I had heard of.”

I think he falls under the “I thought he died years ago!” category. Because I did.

Nope.

Has anyone gotten any points yet?

Are you askin’ or offerin’?

French filmmaker Eric Rohmer has died.

Since I read this, I found an article on Gumby in one of my Bathroom Readers. FWIW:

Gumby premiered on Howdy Doody.

Clokey personally provided the voice of Pokey [horse friend of Gumby]
