Dammit, I was hoping Robin Gibb would be the one to pull of the music trifecta and Levon Helm beats him to it.
This makes me very sad on two counts. First, that he was fantastic and even last summer putting on an amazing show. Only saw him twice (last summer and the year before) but I was looking forward to the next show.
But more importantly when I saw him 2 years ago, I thought “man I should put him on my deathpool!” but I resisted … seemed he had been on the edge for so long that it would be pointless (ha) to pick him. And, honestly he didn’t look any worse last year than the year before. Guess I should have gone with my gut instinct anyway.
Oh yeah, and a note to Baker (and other ghouls) about counting chickens before they’ve hatched. I am afraid that Al-Megrahi is turning into Ariel Sharon.

I know we are supposed to celebrate all things dead and dying in this thread, but the Drive By Truckers did a great version of “Weight” last night in tribute to Levon:
I want to listen to that, but all it’s doing is reminding me why I hate live music. I just want to hear the song, not the meaningless yammering in the audience. This must be what comes of spending a misspent summer playing in an orchestra. The audience must stfu while music is occurring.
