The Celebrity Death Pool 2012

I like the way they tell you the story of his birth, his marriage, his family – he’s not dead yet, folks! :dubious: :frowning:

Pedro Borbon, pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds during their 70’s Big Red Machine era, died yesterday at age 65. http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/editorials/articles/2012/06/05/pedro_borbon_pitched_for_cincinnatis_big_red_machine/

Penny Marshall finally admits she HAD cancer but is in remission now.

And Sheryl Crow has a brain tumor?! :frowning:

From PerezHilton.com, so take with a grain of salt…?

Don’t despair! Robin Gibb announced he was getting better too.

Farewell, Ray Bradbury.

I’m sorry to hear it. A great man.

Finally a match!

It’s a sad day, tempered only slightly by the fact that he scores me my first ever Death Pool points. At least, I think it does, I certainly meant to include him.

Damn.
I just finished reading October Country about thirty minutes ago.

I thought I was finally on the board with Bradbury, but I see that I had Joe Paterno on the list. I think this is the first time I’ve gotten points in the pool.

Bradbury lived just a couple of miles from me when I lived in L.A. I have his address somewhere, but I never wrote him.

:frowning:

Soviet hockey great Vladimir Krutov has passed away at age 52.

Former basketball stars LeRoy Ellis and Jack Twyman have died. Ellis, who was 72 at his passing, played fourteen seasons in the NBA and helped the Los Angeles Lakers win the league’s championship series in 1972.

Twyman, who was 78, averaged 31.2 points per game for the Cincinnati Royals during the 1959-60 season. He was also known for becoming the guardian of fellow player Maurice Stokes after Stokes was paralyzed as the result of an injury suffered in a 1958 game.

No news links yet, but Joan Collins is reporting on Twitter that fashion designer Nolan Miller has died. That is a loss to the fashion world, and 23 points for me.

Second time this year, right band, wrong member

How thoughtful of him to shoot himself where his wife would be the one to find him.

Perhaps that is why he did it.

On the other hand as Robert Johnson sings,

“i don’t care where you bury me, I’ll be dead.”

Just me, or does June seem kinda busy this year? Are we approaching a record?

SpoilerVirgin, most news outlets are reporting that Miller was 79 when he died, so that would be 21 points. But it is a unique pick for you!

Lesser Death Mistresses would have fallen for it.
