The Christmas Truce of 1914

On December 24th 1914 troops from British, German, Russian and other combatant nations called an impromptu truce and began fraternising with each other in No Mans Land.

Gifts were exchanged, games of football played and songs were sung, men sought to bring some sanity to the battlefield and for a short time managed to do just that.

But for the interference of high ranking officers who were safely miles behind the front lines this sanity may have extended further than the Christmas period.

Indeed it did in some isolated ares, extending into 1915 (Feb or March) I forget which month.

Are there any recorded instances of such happenings occuring during WW2 or for that matter any subsequent conflicts.
