Down the street from s is an old house we always called the “junk” house. The front yard was always messy, with overgrown shrubs and stuff left out. The front proch appeared to have stuff piled up arond the entryway-junk.
I asked our neighbors about it-it was inhabited by an old lady and her adult daughter-who were seen in the summers, sitting arond the front yard.
Last week, the city Board of Health condenmed the palce-they had no heat or running water-the welfare dept. put the two women up in a local motel.
I’m guessing that the house may be condemned-the neighbor said that the whole house is filled with jnk.
God only knows how these women survived-they never appeared to be nclean.
What will happen to the house?
Don kno. Nt sre.
Bets me.
There’s usually a time period where the house could be brought up to code. They’d have to clear out the junk, make any required repairs etc and pass a city code inspection. The homeowners could do it or sell and the new buyer would need to do it pretty quickly.
Otherwise the city will put it on a demolish list.
I recall a news article about a very upset rehabber/flipper last year that bought a house and made repairs. City crews demo’d the house before he could notify them and get the inspection.
