To be honest, I was hoping the Browns would blow it. They’d be much more interesting as a team going for 0-16. Now it’s clear that they’re just a team with an average defense and a deplorable offense. That’s no fun.
I’m not one for moral victories, but I was more encouraged by the loss to Cinci than this win. Nothing either team did was any good, except the Cleveland special teams which were excellent, especially the punting unit.
So who now? Rams are my guess, but the Bucs and Chiefs are well on their way.
The Chiefs have looked competent at times. The Bucs organization has a more recent history success than the Rams.
So, I’m going with the Rams. It’s become crystal clear that Marc Bulger is not a good QB and happened to luck out with a good roster for a couple of seasons. The Rams need to draft a new QB and start over.
That recent history didn’t include the Glazers being in a $40 million hole thanks to Manchester United… which is almost exactly the amount we are under the cap this season.
Coincidence? I think not.
And then there were 4 . Still without a win…St. Louis
K.C.
Tennessee
Tampax Bay
Wonder who will last?
The Rams. I think they’re the team that has the best shot at it.
Yep. At least my Bucs have a few talented players on both sides of the ball. The Rams have Steven Jackson and… that Atogwe guy, I guess, but he seems to have been invisible since moving to safety.
I was really impressed by Josh Johnson today. He’s a player.
Here’s a fun story: apparently James Davis tore his labrum during some type of post-practice drill when he wasn’t wearing his shoulder pads and got trucked by someone wearing full equipment.
To be fair, the stories that make up that “storied franchise” all involve Bobby Layne and were created 50 years ago.
Having said that, last season the Lions had suckage in the clutch. To go 0-16 you’ve got to suck in the clutch.
The cats just got scared and ran off at the same time. I think it was SenorBeef’s anguished cry from Braylon scoring in his first game as a Jet.
You’re looking at it the wrong way. They don’t suck in the clutch. They’re clutch with the suck.
We had Barry Sanders.
Whenever I hear a Lions fan mention Barry Sanders I always think of W/Rudy Giuliani and 9/11.
…You mean how Barry would be planes of whole, unadulterated awesome crashing into our decade of promising football?
Why, it’s as clear as day. I can’t see how I didn’t see that before.
Next time, live down from the user name.
Lots of playoff wins out of that guy.
Glazer owns Man U? Hmm, Randy Lerner owns Aston Villa, perhaps there’s a pattern here. Do any other NFL owners also own the other kind of football team? Because without other data points I’d be tempted to conclude that you can own both an English Premier League team and a NFL franchise, but just not a good NFL franchise.
Here’s a link just for Brown’s fans. I laughed, I screamed, I threw up in my mouth a bit, Randy Lerner, what a guy.
Oh God.
A team of 50 players, a bunch of coaches, lots of management idiots, and Sanders is responsible for them not making the Playoffs very often. They were competitive when he was there. How have they fared since he retired? That meme is just so ignorant of the realities of football. The first time you heard someone say that you should have told them how dumb it was. You certainly should not have thought it made sense. It does not.
