Browns fired Sashi Brown, effectively their GM. There was a power struggle between him and Hue Jackson and apparently the Browns wanted to stay with Jackson. I don’t have a strong opinion on this, other than to say that Sashi seemed better at his job than Hue is at his. But maybe the Browns have a good GM candidate they have in mind, but not a good coach, so they made the decision based on their replacements. But they’ve already chosen to keep Hue Jackson next year despite a 1-26 record with a team that has no business with a record like that. I guess we’ll see if he can grow some of that young talent. He needs an OC though - he simply can’t handle gameday OC duties.
Scuttlebutt has it that the Browns are looking at John Dorsey formerly of the Chiefs. I wish Haslam didn’t verbally commit to Hue Jackson for next season, that decision should be made by the incoming GM.
In the wake of Goodell’s new contract, Joe Thomas asks
Has firing the GM but requiring the new GM keep the same head coach ever worked out?
Well, I’ll disagree with you on who’s better at their respective job. If I had to keep one and let one go, I’d have made the same decision. And I don’t know what you mean by “a team that has no business with a record like that.” The Browns’ roster was purposely crafted to be awful. No one could win with this team. That they continue to put forth a strong effort speaks well of Hue.
The timing makes sense for cutting ties with Sashi now, less so for Hue. The Giants already upturned their front office and if the Browns are in fact interested in John Dorsey they can start talking with him right now. I like Hue Jackson but he’s won one game in whats closing in on two seasons, if the new GM wants him gone I’m fine with it but it makes no sense to fire him now. The rest of the season is his audition for the new front office.
You’re welcome to John Fox…and Dowell Loggains.
Yeah, Browns signed Dorsey immediately, so at least they had a plan I guess.
No idea what to make of it yet. Might work without too much disruption if they keep the rest of the FO intact.
CNN/Bleacherreport article on the Browns ongoing struggles with the QB position, with first hand accounts of many of the players and staff that endured from Couch until now.
Josh Gordon.
In the snow.
30 mph winds.
He doesn’t care.
That Buffalo game looks awesome.
(Josh Gordon TD)
Josh Gordon just would’ve caught a 50 yard TD except for obvious pass interference which, in traditional refs vs Browns fashion, was not called.
Looks like the Browns may pick up their first win today…
And my Bengals have absolutely quit on the season. Yeah, we had a lot of injuries on defense, but still…we just got utterly thrashed by the worst offense in football. Well, until today anyway. Giving up 500 plus yards to a team averaging like 230 yards a game…AT HOME, no less…Jeez Louise.
That Steelers game broke our backs.
Brett Hundley now has more overtime wins in than Aaron Rodgers
Brian
3rd and 1 in overtime for the Browns and the Green Bay DBs literally bear hug and attempt to tackle Josh Gordon off the line of scrimmage the entire time and no call. That was some BS officiating all game.
Wow, spoke too soon. Jesus, the Ohio NFL teams suck ass.
Now that the Bengals are officially done, who do I root for in the Balitwhore vs Shittsburgh game? I guess the Ratbirds…I can never root for the Stealers.
Within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage, it’s a free for all. I didn’t get to watch anything past the 3rd quarter, but can Green Bay NOT do the whole “win in overtime” thing? It’s giving my poor heart palpitations.
GB definitely got away with a DPI against Gordon on the long bomb in the 3rd. CLE also got away with a super late hit out of bounds on the Packers’ next possession. I wasn’t paying super close attention, especially when I couldn’t watch, so I’ll have to reserve judgement until I can see the replay.
Well, great football season, everyone! As much as I like(d) Nick Foles, we’ll be beat by the Saints as usual. NFC East Champs, 1st out of playoffs, yada yada…
I won’t be surprised if I hear, “The World Champion Tennessee Titans have won…” in February. And I felt this injury had to happen soon. Luck of the draw, I suppose.
:mad::eek::mad::rolleyes::(:mad::eek:
I heard there was a fat guy touchdown this weekend while watching the Bears recap show last night. I did not see which game they were recapping though. Anyone know who it was?
And the Bears… sheesh. Word from Pro Football Talk was that John Fox “Accepted his fate” for the end of the season before Sunday’s game. Maybe he should have done that a month ago.
