On Monday’s episode of The Closer do you think they were trying to portray Det. Sanchez as being off his game because of his brother’s murder in the previous episode? At the beginning he hesitated when giving information to Deputy Chief Johnson, and at the end he did not go forward in the bad guy’s house–Det. Daniels pushed him aside and went forward.
Yeah, they seem to be going for PTSD thing with him. Nicely underplayed, for the most part. I’m sure it’ll come to a head at some point, probably with the Chief having to fire him or something.
Yes, I noticed it, and Brenda even mentioned it on the phone to someone. I like the continuity. I was annoyed that they just dropped the major argument between Brenda and Fritz, a few episodes back, where he stormed out of the house after Brenda deliberately deceived him over a case.
This was a good episode. I wonder if Brenda and Fritz will get married this season? There are only 2 or 3 episodes left, and then they usually do a two-parter at Christmas.
I was annoyed by that too. On the one hand, I don’t like it when they focus too much on the personal life aspect, but on the other hand, why bring it up if you’re just going to ignore it later on?
I liked Fritz’s little gotcha about dealing with control freaks at the end of the ep, too.
Maybe it’s just me, and although I like Brenda and there are aspects about her I admire, I just don’t see why Fritz puts up with her. Seriously, she treats him like crap half the time and ignores him the other half.
I think she treats him badly also, but it seems like Fritz is very much aware of it, and has decided he wants to be with her anyway. As if he thinks the good outweighs the bad.
I’ve never seen Fritz do anything I disapproved of, except for lying to Brenda about his alcoholism. That was a big deal, and for once I didn’t think Brenda overreacted.
We are getting a lot of underwear shots this season, aren’t we? Like maybe Kyra Sedgwick has spent a lot of time at the gym lately and wants to show it off. She does look fantastic.
Regarding the OP, I agree that Sanchez’s reticence was due to–well, not PTSD exactly, but certainly lingering trauma and guilt over his brother’s death and his role in it. Not that he actually has any rational reason to feel guilty, but guilt is irrational.
He’s depressed - his head is not in the game - and he does hold himself responsible (irrationally so) because he gave his brother the hat that he was killed over.
As for Brenda/Fritz argument being dropped - I dont think it was - I think its still in the background - after all, she went back to drinking wine in front of him (she put it away in the episode he hurt his back in) and the handhold in front of the parents was forced.
Brenda is severely “committment challenged” - if for no other reason than all the hurt she has seen in her job.
I guess Fritz really really loves her or just can’t get enough of her, because she is pretty awful to him most of the time. I know it is hard for some people to talk, but she is excessively reticent. At the end of the episode where the adopted boy from (Russia? Ukraine?) was violent and met a violent end–she seemed to decide that they weren’t going to have children. But instead of talking about it, she just said they could look for a house anywhere because they didn’t need to worry about the school district. And Fritz seemed to agree. Nothing wrong with not wanting to have children, but I think they should have talked about it.
I also wondered why they didn’t show us a resolution of the fight between Fritz and Brenda.
And please, if she ate all those HoHos she would not be svelte.
This extremely active metabolism that allows consumption of junk foods in quantities inconsonant with the smoking hot body is called the Lorelai syndrome. Both Gilmore girls had it.
Of course, when you think about it, that implies going to the crapper a whole hell of a lot, or literally having the ability to spit fire, or both. Either way it goes a long way toward explaining Brenda.
