ETA: I would consider Oceania to be “environs of AU/NZ” (which abuts the Pacific) and Pacific Islands to be “any island in the Pacific”. So there’s overlap, but not a big one.
What sparked the idea of this for me was considering the way in which different countries define these regions differently. Fr’instance, I’d never encountered the concept that India could be considered part of Asia till moving to the UK at 19. I’d also think that Iceland’s a shoe-in for the Scandinavian category - but then, I don’t live there!
[Nitpick]
Per true definition, Scandinavia is the Scandinavian peninsula which is Sweden and Norway. But then Denmark and Finland have been added to the blend. Iceland (and the Faroe Islands) are like the odd cousin out.
But they’re all part of the Nordic Countries.
