Wait…I just noticed that. WTF? I voted to ostracize you! So you’re voting for me because I said I *considered the possibility *of voting to execute?! And not one of the people who actually did vote that way? And why did you say earlier that you voted for me for randomizing my decision? (though I now agree that ostracism is in fact a better option).
You haven’t answered my question about your stated reasons for voting for me, you’ve only come up with another reason which also makes no sense. And you also haven’t explained the contradiction I pointed out in post 264.
I don’t have an explanation for what you pointed out in post 264 because I don’t see a problem with it. I wanted to explain why I edited my post, because the content was not edited, the form was. Even if it’s okay to edit posts I would think people would be interested in the reason why.
No, Special Ed, I haven’t, but I see it now. Thanks for pointing it out. I think part of my problem is the quick reply as opposed to the Reply to Thread. The controls are different on them and that’s part of what’s causing me some confusion.
Where is BillMc? I’d like to FOS him, just to get him to check in.
OOGI know, that quick reply is tempting, but I always quote now. If I’m starting a new thought, I just hit quote and then delete everything to get a blank slate. And the preview is really handy.
Also, and feel free to ignore this as it’s just information on the format here:
I went to “User CP” and clicked “Edit options”
Way down, Under “Thread Display Mode” I selected “Linear-newest first” That puts the newest messages on the top, and you actually scroll up to get to the newer messages. I kinda like it better. I also changed it to show 200 messages per page, as it makes searching easier.
But that’s just me, I’m used to ‘newest on top’ from years of web-based chatting back before they’d invesnted instant messaging programs.
Right below the Quick reply box is a button that says “Go Advanced” which takes you to that same window…sans any quoted text. Also, if you’ve already started typing in the quick reply box and hit “Go Advanced” it’s effectively the same as hitting the preview post button.
Thank you, that was really helpful, I can be sure I won’t miss the new posts now (which I was before), plus I was able to limit the number of posts per page, which was the other thing causing me trouble.
Well obviously i think you’re the most suspicious. Your case is weak and your arguments fairly nonsensical. I think that means that you just want blood and don’t care whether what looks like a scum tell on the surface is actually a scum tell.
First, you need to have a signature to turn on. That’s somewhere in the Control Panel, but it’s been so long since I’ve done it, that I don’t remember exactly where.
Then, for each and every post you want to attach your signature to, you need to check the “Show your signature” box. If you preview, it’ll become unchecked, and you’ll need to check it again. There is no way to make it default to always on. The general etiquette guideline around here is to include it at most once per page of a thread.
Angel, did you vote for me because you thought I voted to execute you, or because I randomized my E/O decision?
If the former, why did you say it was the latter when you cast the vote? If the latter:
And WRT your saying that you edited only for form and not content: you do understand, don’t you, that the whole reason people object so strongly to editing is that we have NO WAY of knowing whether that is actually true or not. Unverifiable explanations are as good as no explanation at all.
Thing Fish, they are two incomplete thoughts that go together. I voted you because I thought you voted to execute me AND I thought the randomization of that decision was too careless for someone to be town. In other words, I thought the randomization of the decision was an excuse to vote to execute, and the reason to vote to execute was Blackheart looking for a power role.
I’m not going to discuss the editing anymore. I won’t be doing it again so it’s just static at this point.
