No, Meeko.
I believe Ped said Blackhearts are like traditional scum. They win when they(combined with the Day votes) have killed off enough of everyone so that they are in control…more of them than anyone.

Quoth Meeko:
If this were true, it’d be well nigh impossible for the Town to win. Our only task would be to decide whether to hand the game to the Sinners, or to the Blackhearts.
Sure!
Goodbye, **Spurious George. ** We will do our best to avenge you!

It’s possible that it was an attempt to save Angel, but isn’t it also possible that you are Scum hoping to start us on our second mislynch?
Just about anything is possible at this point.

So could you be, Mr. Smudgy;)
There I fixed your broken tag.
How is that a smudge? I just put forth a possibility, and a real one at that, and I even included a little winky guy.
Here was the part of your post I was refering to:
I’m feeling pretty sure Spurious George is going to turn up Town. If he were scum, we would have seen some sort of effort to rescue him. Looking at the vote history, Angel got the first two votes, then five people piled on Spurious. One of them unvoted, then I voted Angel, making it 4-3. Since then, five more people have voted Spurious. Although of course there are other possibilities, this pattern seems to me to be very highly consistent with the hypothesis that Angel is scum, and her partners are jumping on the Spurious bandwagon in order to protect her.
You were ‘pretty sure’ Spurious was Town, and a Scum would be pretty sure, knowing he wasn’t Scum.
I’ll agree that it IS consistent with Angel being Scum, but YOUR post IS consistent with you wanting to get another Town lynch started.
So, in actuality, I’m smudging you about as much as you’re smudging the Spurious voters.
Even before Nightfall, I would have agreed with you, but not for the same reasons: I would have said that Spurious is probably town (as in, greater than 50% chance), for the very simple reason that there’s (presumably) significantly more Town than non-Town, and we really don’t have much information yet. At this stage of the game, any given player is probably Town.
And I don’t really think that Spurious’s lynching was the result of a concerted Scum effort. For one thing, he lead by 6 votes, and I can’t see either of the scum factions being that large. At that rate, even if Angel is scum, all that her faction had to do was to vote for anyone at all but her, and Spurious would still have lost the vote. There’s no benefit and considerable risk for them to pile up their votes all on the same person.
Furthermore, if a Scum does something in public that looks particularly scummy, the other Scum can and will be expected to vote for that person, so as to look innocent. If Scum never voted for other Scum, then it’d be a cinch to find them.
It’s certainly true that any given player is probably Town at this point, but less so than in a usual game. Wasn’t it you who figured that there are probably about 7 scum divided between the 2 groups, rather than the 4 or 5 we would expect in a conventional two-faction setup? At this case, assuming a Townie gets killed tonight (hopefully we will get lucky and have a scum crosskill, though), we will have 16 living players, and since we all know we’re Town that means 7 of 15 unknowns, or almost half the remaining players, are likely scum.
Obviously there are many possible explanations for how the vote went the way it did, but since I think that the case against Angel was fairly good and the case against George was lame, of course I’m going to be more disposed to look for sinister reasons why it went the way it did. I’ll try to do a reread toNight and see what I can see.
I’m not sure if it’s worth the distinction, but we aren’t really facing 2 Scum factions. We’re facing a Scum faction and a Cult.
The Town can be recruited or lynched or NK’d
The Cult can be lynched or NK’d
The Scum can probably only be lynched, though it might be possible to recruit them and it’s possible that we have a Vig as well.
Special: Obviously it’s possible I’m scum (from anyone’s point of view other than mine). Stating that a specific person* might* be scum without actually arguing that they are likelier than anyone else to be scum seems like a textbook smudge, winky guy or no.
My gut feeling, which could be wrong, is that scum are likely to be overrepresented among the Spurious voters, but obviously many of them must be Town. I will need to do a reread to see who of them, if any, seem particularly suspicious.
You were ‘pretty sure’ Spurious was Town, and a Scum would be pretty sure, knowing he wasn’t Scum.
That’s an excellent point. Now that you’ve drawn my attention to it, that could be case of scum gloating. That isn’t a scum tell that comes up often in SDMB games, but apparently it’s a big scum tell on mafiascum. NAF is the one who introduced me to it:
His defense wasn’t actually a defense, it was a list of people who were upset at how the Day had gone, and had been upset before the Day ended. He actually sounded (now that I am more clear eyed and not in the game) like scum gloating.
On mafiascum they say one of the classic scum tells for new scum is gloating. Saying things like “oh wow, we really screwed up that lynch.” or “crap, that was a horrible Night we sure are screwed now” are considered voteable offenses.
NK’d?
It stands for night-killed.
NK’d?
NK means night-killed.
By the way, Meeko here are a couple other minor things to know.
In mafia, we use capital letters for the game Day and Night(and Tomorrow and so forth). We are all currently in Night One and awaiting Day Two. tomorrow is Monday, but Tomorrow begins Tuesday at noon, I believe. Small letters are used for the “real world” days. today is Sunday or “today we need to figure out who to lynch” or whatever.
Just a minor point, but worth knowing.
The sun sank. It is now night, and the group went into the local gathering hall (as there was no bar) for further discussion, and/or sleep.
What? No bar? What kind of stupid pure town is this?
Just a thought - do we want to be discussing things at Night? I mean, we are more than welcome to, but perhaps we should hold off until after the NK.
Or then maybe not. The NK gives us more infor, but we will lose potentially two players - one from NK, one from Sin conversion - who would otherwise be able to contribute.
Thoughts?

It feels odd to be able to discuss at Night. Are you saying you think it’s dangerous, though, to talk?
Also, I too lament the lack of a bar. Will I get modkilled if I let it slip that I snuck in a thermos?
No, but you’d probably get ostracized. Isn’t drinking a sin to Puritans?
::grumble grumble:: Okay, okay, it’s just huckleberry juice!
Laced with acid.

Probably not dangerous, but it is worth thinking about.
NETA: I’m talking about night discussions, not alcohol smuggling.
Yeah. Man I don’t know, without my night cap, I think the night is going to feel 8 times as long.
