The Cube - opinions, watch out! (Spoilers)

Ai! Ai! Ai! Shub-Niggurath! N’gath N’ath gar equr sloth’a’goth, fngar Cthulhu, fnath Ryleah!

Oh, you meant ‘Nyuck’. Disregard my last post.

Yes. I get it.

I was going to make a comparison to the Twilght Zone.

I was going to make a tesseract joke.

I was frustrated by Cube because it could have been so much better. The cop going mad never worked for me.

Hmmm, I wish they’d worked more on the mental changes all the characters go through.

That and- (been a while since I saw the film. There may be errors in the scene below)

Kazan walks into the light. Cut to- This room is also a cube covered in metal and lights. But, it is not a another maze room. It is a lab filled with white-coated workers and gleaming equipment. The buzz of their conversations lowers, and we hear 2 scientists.

Dr1 "Fascinating! Not at all the reactions I'd expected."

Dr2 “You see? All the standard test and profiles-Rorshach, Wexler, (more names I can’t remember at the moment)-worthless. But, with this project, we will finally gain a true understanding of the human mind. Clear the rooms and prepare the next group. We’ll go with the same profiles and initial room placements.”

Dr 1 “Sir, I must renew my objection. I cannot overstate the risk…”
He is interrupted by Dr2

“Nonsense.”
The camera pans slowly. Finally we see Kazan in the lab. His bearing and body language are entirely different. He opens his mouth. His voice is the voice of the second scientist.
“I’ve gone in twice and twice I’ve come out unharmed.”

Cut to-
A room in the Cube. A hatch opens and a new group climbs through. The last one leads Kazan by the hand, murmuring to him in a warm voice. The subjects examine the new room, forgetting Kazan for the moment. Only the camera sees as his expression changes from confused and distant, to a cold and calculating scientist watching the rats inside his maze.

Yeah, this carpel tunnel brace thingy I’ve been wearing makes typos even worse than usual…

So should I be expected some incanted otherworld creature to start emerging from my screen? (Dang I hated when that happens. They always drink all my beer!)

Was anybody else as unimpressed as I was when they find out that the final room is the same one they started in? And if they had just chilled there for a while they would have all gotten out when it made its way around?

As I recall they actually made five sides of one cube and three of another. The semicube was what you saw when looking through the hatches.

Oh yeah, and where to all the Blood N Guts go? I didn’t see any cube janitors.

I think the blood and guts stays put. Remember? They realized they were going in circles (er… so to speak…) once they came across the body of a dead guy.

So blood, guts, bodies and Kazan pee stay where they land (unless it gets cleaned up between sessions/groups).

They have them, but they keep cleaning up after each other.

In the scene where Kazan escapes, the directors put a metallic whine at the end. They didn’t want the end to be considered “Heaven”, and the cube purgatory.

I like that idea, btw. It would be easy for a godlike being to devise a cube to test, say, one person, and throw them 5 “friends” to see if they can help each other, and show compassion.

In any case, figuring out the Cube is like figuring out the prisoner.

I’ve always felt that the movie, as such, was intentionally unsatisfying. I keep meaning to pick it up; I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.
