The current second Trump administration: a compendium of horrors

I read the article, and I’m sympathetic to its points, 15 years old though they may be.

And I’ll be damned if I can understand what your comparison is intended to mean. I’m not disagreeing with whatever you meant; I just can’t figure out what you meant.

It’s how they keep the downtrodden, repressed, disadvantaged, marginalized, neglected, exploited, and abused in line.

Thank you. I only knew the German phrase in the highly cynical Nazi usage. Not the preceding historical / philosophical contexts.

Now that I understand your meaning I agree completely. I’m reminded of a bumper sticker from, WAG, the Reagan years. It wasn’t specifically about Reagan or Republicans or anything like that. Just about the general zeitgeist. It said

If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention

Quiet part out loud, and in court filings no less:

Shame that both the headline and the lede are cut off before the punchline. Which was

… voted for Kamala Harris.

My god that pisses me off beyond belief. Never give a vindictive moronic toddler that is prone to temper tantrums power beyond belief.

I and I’m sure everyone else that is sane is pro renewable energy. Not Donnie of course.

Today from NPR:

Trump asks SCOTUS to clear the way for executive order that restricts voting by mail

Past practice in Pennsylvania counties is to mail out ballots to voters like myself in mid-September – about seven weeks from now.

Trump’s executive order says:

The State Citizenship List shall be updated and transmitted to State election officials no fewer than 60 days before each regularly scheduled Federal election

This list does not exist, as explained here, and there is no prospect for the list to exist in two months:

The implication is that without a list, USPS will not deliver:

So is this a TACO deal, where USPS is going to actually deliver the mail, or are we actually on track to my having to stand in line to vote? My back will not approve.

There isn’t a whole lot of time left on this.

Trump and his Freedom 250 front repeatedly promised that all events they staged would be paid for by bribes… uh, private donations.

Trump then redirected a hundred and fifty million dollars that had been allocated to America250 (the official organization) to his Freedom 250 organization.

Trump is now asking Congress to retroactively pay an additional ten million dollars to Freedom 250.

And even less time for the states that are entirely vote by mail. You’d need to recreate the entire physical voting infrastructure in those states.

And of course the goal is to force exactly that chaotic situation. During which mistakes will be made and underprovisioning will occur.

Every bit of which feeds the fascist narrative that blue states are too screwed up to be allowed to vote.

This, he may not be able to stop the voting but he’ll add as much friction to the mechanism as he can and if it grinds to a halt so much the better.

How could one stage, a plywood arch, and 50 tents cost $150M?

According to the Trump administration, they needed heightened security because of the threat of communist terrorists.

I’m guessing the plan is to stage a repeat of 2000. Claim that some ballots weren’t clear. Sort through all the ballots and find some combination that results in a Republican victory. When the Democrats dispute this, let the Supreme Court decide who wins.

Articles trying to summarize even a fraction of Trump’s crimes and corruptions are plentiful, but this one mentions some crimes that were new to me. Here are just two:

This could actually go in a couple of different threads, but ABC is suing the Trump administration, claiming that the administration is trying to violate the network’s First Amendment rights with its threats of the FCC pulling its licenses and subjecting it to early renewals.

Michael Popok has a good breakdown of it on his LegalAF YouTube channel. The video is about 15 minutes long.

Don’t mess with The Mouse. The Mouse has lots of lawyers, and he’s not afraid to use them.

Trump tries again to have stuff named after him.

Sickening.

The right wing was very good on telling others that “Woke” (that was in the spirit of that old quote) should not be minded too.

Surely the courts will protect our dying democracy.
Oh shit:

Surely states submitting lists of voters to the corruptest feds ever is nothing of concern.
