The Dawn of Time: 6,000 years ago!

Well, they say so on the Creation Museum website section on exhibits.

I wonder what Animatronic Noah does…Gets drunk and grabs at the visitors?

Seriously, though…There is overwhelming evidence that the Earth is far, far older than 6,000 years. There are cultures and tribes that can trace their own histories back farther than that, just for starters. How do people convince themselves that the Earth is very young? I just can’t wrap my brain around it.

Then again, I do like to use my brain.

Fake news.

It’s an oldie but a goodie: Sumerians Look On In Confusion As God Creates World

Holy shit!

There’s your problem right there. To understand the YEC view, you need to stop doing that.

Poor Petersburg, Kentucky. They have to live with the fact they house such an absurd museum.

The answer to the OP is the inerrancy of the bible.

vivalostwages:

Not disputing the rest of your post. But please do tell me, what still-extant cultures/tribes can demonstrate reliable evidence of a continuous history dating back more than 6,000 years? I know there are some sort of temples in Turkey that have been dated by archaeology to 10K years ago, but that doesn’t demonstrate any sort of continuity with any modern-day culture.

Alternate facts.

How can they believe it you ask? How can you believe your version? should be the question you ask. You accept the views of persons you deem to be authorities on the subject, you from groupthink mentality from piers which strengthens your belief that you have it basically correct and the other side is wrong.

That is unless you are involved in original research on this which very few are.

So it’s the exact same reason you hold to your beliefs.

Really that’s the reason.

Australian Aboriginal culture.

kanicbird, vivalostwages’ side doesn’t just make empty assertions. They describe in detail how they come to each of the many conclusions that add up to their view, all ultimately tracing back to direct observation of the actual world itself, and all with an invitation for anyone who cares to do so to repeat any of those observations that they wish. And in fact, the OP probably has repeated at least a few of those observations himself. Heck, dendrochronology (tree-ring dating) already brings us back nearly 14,000 years, and anyone at all can do that.

Just checking in to point out that not all creationists say that Earth is 6000 years old. Jehovah’s Witnesses concede that the Earth is billions of years old. Animal life was created over millions of years.

It’s Adam who was created 6000 years ago. And certainly not from apes.

Here’s a great article about 14,000 year old aboriginal artifacts that confirm their oral history here on a local island.

I’m not quite seeing the symmetry here. Who is doing “original research” that shows the earth is 6,000 years old?

In any event, even if we accept your claim that it’s all just appeal to one authority over another (which is effectively a claim that all of science throughout history is a giant conspiracy), do you want to go with the authorities that brought you modern medicine and the computer that you’re using, or the authorities that brought you talking snakes and the Spanish Inquisition?

Herself.

Scroll down to the section about the Hopi. The tribal history appears to go back at least least a couple of thousand years.

Are those last two sentences what you believe, or what the YEC have said?

Oh, dear. Are you one of those flat earthers? Their “research” is all over YouTube.
